Ha, ha, watched a Michael McIntyre sketch last night with him on the loo waving his arms about to get the light to come back on.....We will have walk in showers behind solid partition walls so it wouldn't work anyway but thanks for the suggestion.

Great !

Good luck with your new bathroom Cheryl, it sounds lt will be really lovely when completed.

On a more Geeky note , did you know MK Electrical was named after their revolutionary safety socket system patented way back in 1919 the  MK being derived from the name of the new system i.e. Multy Kontact.

The Lights in their Electrical components factory ? well , believe it or not, they were ,at that time, run by Gas. 😀😀😀😀.

Thanks Les, I hope so. Freezing cold bathrooms didn't even cross my mind when planning our move to sunny Spain so that could go on the list of "Differences in Spain", along with processionary caterpillars. There is now insulation in the new ceilings, thermal plasterboard going on the walls and over-sized radiators with pipework buried under the walking areas and we should have it all finished in time for the summer! Still, next winter, or mañana should I say.

Wow Cheryl,

Now you really have made me envious 😥

Another problem with Spanish construction can be excessive sound transfer between neighbours walls if on a terrace of houses . I know some people ,when completing refurb projects also add sound reducing plasterboard to walls.

Hopefully Your planned work will pay dividends during the cooler months. 👍

No neighbors to worry about but sound reducing plasterboard is now on the shopping list for the diving wall where we have converted the middle bedroom into two en-suites which will help with privacy. Really glad you mentioned that Les.

Cheryl.

I am no expert on the subject but glad to have been of help.

If your new en suite are to have stud partition walls then acoustic sound resistant Rockwoll insulation inserted into the cavity of the new walls could be another alternative, or an addition to the sound reducing plasterboards.

It's been built with what I call Emmental bricks so the plasterboard each side, and then tiles, should help cut down on noise transfer.
