I am impressed with the replies that I've received from the forum. I now know 100% more than I did before which

was nil. Please keep sending advice and information as I am a complete novice, some of the advice on where

to live has been excellent. I am seeking a vibrant ex-pat community to assist me in all the the things that are needed

to restart my life.

Thank you

I agree Steve, it does get a bit tedious having to ask all the while if they’re British or Irish?

We can only presume that people don’t realise how different the procedures are for EU and non EU passport holders for both applying for residency or looking for a  job.

Threads then usually end up with the whole Brexit argument rearing it’s ugly head.

We should have a competition, first forum member to reply British or Irish ten times wins a lollipop!

Or the number of times Golandrina could copy and paste their post about Citizens Advice and the N332 site, they would have won 10 lollypops.

We have a 90 year old friend who moved to the Costa Blanca four years ago, many years after his wife’s death. He loves living here.

He chose Guardamar de Segura to rent his home - fabulous long beach, parks, bars, restaurants, shops,  English and other nationalities as well as being a real Spanish town, even public transport - somewhat rare in this area.

try a holiday there first perhaps…😎

Thank you for very positive feedback it certainly appears to be just what I'm looking. My spirits have been lifted

and I will certainly be coming to Spain to look over as many places as as many possible. I am still accepting as

from the Forum as I can receive.

Once again thank you

Hi there, although I can't help with advice that you will need, it's best to take legal advice from the right source. People we know moved over with a lucrative visa and thought they could do what they wanted and it ended in tears. We live in Catral in the Alicante region, I moved to Spain in 2015 post Brexit so getting residencie was easy. I understand for an Irish passport holder it is easier and best look at one of the many sites for information, or perhaps somebody who has gone through the system. You do need money behind you now and health paid for for a year. Although we have had mixed weather so far this year it will get better. Waking up to blue skies and sunshine gives you a happy feeling. You sound as though you are still fit and active so there are many groups to join for walking, flying remote control aeroplanes, pool, darts or just enjoy meeting up for a coffee or beer. It's very different from the UK, it's one big happy family with most expats. Hope you get all the information you need and you come out soon. Good luck

Hello Kenbo

I agree!!......Neither of those sites help anyone who is just making enquiries on whether to move here and where to look for a property....far too early in the process to benefit from them & possibly quite confusing until you actually get here.

Surely you should adapt your reply to the question.

Cheers

Yes, regularly copying and pasting exactly the same answer into the threads of people seeking advice is very unhelpful and extremely annoying.

On the other hand the poster has accumulated a large amount of ' helpful points ' in this way because I haven't noticed too much other content from them.

Couple of considerations for you.

Do you speak Spanish

Do you want to live in an area amongst Spanish or expats.

Do you want to live in a village/town , on an urbanisation?

Any hobbies or interests?

Lynn

Hello GrahamLynn,

No I don't speak Spanish, yes I would like to live amongst Spanish people with a large British ex-pat community, Town would be preferable. I am would like accommodation which has good services within a 10 minute drive.

Thanks for the questions, you have opened up aspects of my postings which I hadn't posted.
