Sweden is in the EU. Once border restrictions are lifted EU residents can visit Spain and stay for 90 days before a technical requirement to register at a Policia Nacional Extranjeros office. Mostly, as was the case with the UK before Brexit, overstay by EU residents is not policed. As many of yo...

...u may have noticed several overseas homeowners are simply driving in now.

Also, my understanding is that the Spanish government has declared their intention to vaccinate everyone in the country, including those in the country temporarily. Remember there are foreigners in Spain on work Visas, Student Visas and other categories who have leave to remain although not permanent residents.

So I think the question from Ingemar is a reasonable one, particularly since we don't know and don't need to know the purpose of her visit.

I think if correct ID is presented at the Centro Medico she will be issued a temporary SIP number for vaccination as long as a Spanish phone number is also supplied.

PS (If you want to retain a home country based mobile phone and don't want to go down the road of dual SIM, I'm told an Orange shop will sell you a primitive mobile for €15 and load it with €10 PAYG call time in the shop)

What I was getting at with the residency is more as you said with the 90 day in 180. The likelihood of being called for vaccination within the 90 days at the current roll out is, I would have thought, very slim. The people here on work, or student visas are here for a longer period and will be in some sort of system somewhere already. If Ingemar arrives in April and registers immediately, it is anybody's guess whether the system would call her for vaccination before July which would be the 90 days.

Also, which was quite a surprise, no one so far has questioned the reason for the visit. (As you said its nobody elses business) Usually we have the 'why', 'do you have to', 'do you need to' comments

Sorry I'm assuming Ingemar23 is a 71 year young lady 👍. She will already be registered in her home town and included in the statistics required for the ordering of the vaccine.

Also as per my previous post the registration can be done online. Maybe before April, but we still have the 'window of opportunity'. I know people stay longer but that is the choice of the individual.

Once again Ingmar23. I apologise for commenting about you and not to you, but this is a reply to a post.

Fair comment, I'm just saying that it's possible she's planning to do what thousands of British people used to do, overstay the 90! My comments weren't made from a moral point of view, just a practical one, ie that on presentation of the European Health Card and passport the likelihood is that she will be issued a temp SIP number for vaccination purposes.

Also, if Ingemar arrives in April, and if she is over 70, she might not have to wait too long to be called, especially if more vaccination suppliers are authorised at the EMA in the next few weeks.
