I used to be proud to be English. I’m still to a point proud to be Northern,

Britain and I apologise to the Scots, Welsh and most of the Irish peoples in all this is led by a very parochial and protectionist English government who have succeeded in completely dividing the country into tribes old and new. The most Dis-United Kingdom in 200 years!
But, it’s a tactic ‘divide and rule’, used by many regimes down the centuries. Find the ogre, blame it for all the ills in the nation then set the pitchfork and blazing torches rabble off to destroy it. It’s quite sad watching a nation tearing itself apart whilst the orchestrators profit from the chaos.
But, all empires rise and fall, this is the pitiful death throes of ours.
I mean what sabré rattling fool thought they could take on the Russians in the Black Sea? It’s that pathetic pretence that we still have clout that will risk lives unnecessarily. But it won’t be Williamson’s sons, Boris’s numerous daughters or Rees-Moggs precious fruit putting their lives on the line. It will be some poor kid from Blyth, Carlisle or Thornaby!

No, the war mongerers won’t have that, let’s pick a fight with Russia. Let’s pee on the Good Friday agreement and risk bloodshed in Ireland again. In fact let’s not honour any treaties, including climate change, our kids won’t mind as we import millions from Australia and the Pacific Basin.
So no I’m not proud. I’m ashamed of a country that’s allowed itself to be taken over by the far right on the illusion of “Let’s make Britain - Great again” it’s very , very sad! I find myself apologising to my French and Spanish friends who think as a nation we’ve lost our collective minds.
The area of England I’m from once accounted for 29% of UKs GDP. It built bridges that are on every continent, now that was something to be proud of.
unfortunately it was sold out and forgotten, now we’re offered pathetic scraps for votes from the ‘levelling up” table. What absolute farce!
So What I will guarantee is that if we don’t get what has been promised, the cry for self-determination won’t just end at the Scottish, Welsh and Irish borders.
