Schengen Rule Question

GREETINGS BENIDORMIANS!!

We are Canadians who have been really, really enjoying Benidorm for two months. We want to come back. It's fun here.

Traveling on Tourist Visas we know we have to leave Spain and the Schengen Zone before our 90 days are up.

Our question: iIf we leave on Day 84, rather than Day 90, can we 'bank' the extra 6 days somehow, if we are out of Spain and Schengen for 90 days?

For example can we add the 6 days to our next 90 day chunk [tranche] when we come back?

Thanking you all in advance.

It doesn't work that way I'm afraid. You can come back for 6 days or wait until next year for a longer period.

The current ruling is 90 days in a 180 day period.

For example, in simple terms:

  1. If you arrived into the Schengen zone on 1st January 2019 then you would legally have to leave on 31st March 2019 (90th day). You would not legally be entitled to return until 30th June 2019 (180th Day)
  2. If you arrive on 1st January and stay until 25th March (84 days in your example) then you can return for another 6 days before 30th June.
Now it gets a little more complicated!

The 180 days is rolling, so the clock does not simply reset to Zero on 30th June for you to begin another 90 days, you have to consider the 180 day rolling period.

Hope that helps

Don't feel bad about it, the stupidity of Brexit means that non resident Brits will likely be in the same boat as you - and many of them actually voted for it!

The people who voted for brexit are not interested in crossing borders cheaply but they are interested in having our country run by Germany and paying the biggest amount into the pot of the Europe, the people who wanted to stay are only interested in cheap holidays and they are the only members who still have to produce passports all the rest just have a document so yet again one-sided treatment. Mine and many more people's ancestors who made our country free are turning over in their graves right now. I also object that you think Brexit voters are idiots we are not. Our countryis already the dumping ground for every nationality and sooner or later there will be no more room and no more free health and benefits.

Hi Cliffs...if you haven’t already,  please look at this topic it explains everything about the 90 day rule and how to calculate the 180 days rolling period

Good morning,

A couple of corrections to your post if I may.

1. The EU is not run by Germany, all member states are represented. However the YK as a founding member has a veto on any decisions

2. The UK is not the biggest contributor to the EU, Germany is; their contribution js approximately twice our

3. The use of ID cards was reject by the UK government more than a decade ago. Thus is why UK citizens use passports, not because of one sided treatment

4. UK net migration from tbe EU has been falling for years. It currently stands at ~50,000pa. By comparison net migration from non-EU countries stands at ~200,000. This will not change because of brexit

I understand you feel Movingon implied brexit voters are idiots, and object to that. But when so many voted that way based on the inaccurate nonsense you posted here, is it any surprise?

Firstly Cookep1Germany According to you pay the most into EU bank so have the biggest say .well they need to pay NATO on time instead of relying on USA Britain And Greece to secure it .ironically because of their past one of the reasons we have it.

Secondly the damage has already done by the EU To Britain by immigration over the past 40yrs I am born and bred once proud Brummie 1.2 million people 40% migrants .so what you tend to forget your 50000 migrants if only 25% have kids that is still thousands over a ten year period who need educating feeding a roof over thier heads you want them you have them.

Ray,

The EU budget information is published it is therefore NOT according to me it's just a matter of record; feel free to check. Nor did I suggest this gave them the biggest say, it doesn't as I have explained.

NATOs funding is NOT a matter for the EU, so is completely irrelevant to any discussion on membership.

As already explained, and again feel free to check, the vast majority of UK immigration is NOT from the EU but from non-EU countries. In Birmingham specifically, 58% are white, 27% Asian, 9% black and 5% are Gypsy. So again, whilst you may feel migration is too high, it is NOT as a result of the EU.

I'm more than happy to discuss the pros and cons of the EU, but based on facts not on fiction.

Paul
