Hi Poddy16. I am going through the process now and have my appointment on 1st March in Elche. If I can give you one piece of advice that caught me out....make sure you have a Spanish bank account which has been opened for at least 3 months with the right amount of money in. I found this out at a ...

...previous appointment in November. I was informed all my UK banks accounts statements would be suffice which was wrong. The Police wasn't interested in my uk bank. I'm led to believe its only the Alicante region that requires you to have a Spanish bank account?

Hi,

That is not correct regarding only Spanish bank accounts are acceptable

We have just received our visa's for the next 2 years having initially moved to Spain on a 1 year NLV visa and on both applications we have submitted English bank accounts only .we are In the Alicante region..

Jogary. It is correct. You have gone through a different route to the the one I and the original person who posted on here have. We have gone through registering as EU citizens on the EU registration route and only this morning I attended my appointment at Elche police station and without a Spanish bank account opened for at least 3 months they wouldn't even look at your application. The NLV route I couldn't possibly comment what is needed. I have paperwork from them stating you need a spanish bank account.

Your route for obtaining a visa must have different criteria to ours because we visited the Alicante immigration office for our appointment 2 weeks ago to pick up our TIE cards which are valid for the next 2 years up until 2025..then we apply for a further 2 years using the same procedures as we have done for this 2 year visa which is proof of funds to sustain us for the next 2 years, full private healthcare, plus having our finger prints taken again..then after the next 2 years we are then classed as full Spanish residents with full access to everything a Spanish citizen is entitled to ...health care etc

Regards and good luck

So..If I am a UK citizen and have come to Spain on a Non Lucrative visa when I have my first appointment for fingerprints etc, I will have to demonstrate a spanish bank account or not. Will the Spanish authorities not accept my British bank and my British bank statements. They accepted them when I obtained my Padron a month or so ago. I've also just opened a Wise account. Presumably, they will accept this account.

Surely as part of the NLV process you will have demonstrated the economic requirements to the Spanish Consulate dealing with your application? Why would you need to do so again?

If you are a UK citizen applying for a NLV your UK bank accounts are suffice,as long as you have enough funds...as I said in my previous response we never had an issue with supplying our UK bank accounts and we have just picked up our year 2 & 3 TIE cards..when these TIE cards are 6 weeks away from expiring then we will apply for our years 4 & 5 visa's which will be in Nov 2024

Hope this helps

In your application for your years 2&3 you have to demonstrate you have double the amount of savings/income so the Spanish consulate are happy you can sustain yourself for those next 2 years

When you have your fingerprints taken they won't want your bank account details as your have already submitted them to the NLV authorities.

You wouldn't have got as far as the fingerprint appointment otherwise!
