It must be personal to me then!  Anyway the thread was not about wise, it was a query if other forum members had problems opening a spanish bank account.

Thanks anyway on comments on wise

Hi Douglas,

I hate to say this, but in the absence of a logical explanation, I think it must be you! ;o)

You say, "I have finally given up trying to use Wise Bank to be constantly rejected by Spanish Companies, I have tried to open 3 number banks accounts in Spain and have failed dismally".  We have multiple examples of happy forum members, who are not resident in Spain, who have ditched their expensive Spanish bank accounts in favour of Wise with no difficulty, but what really perplexes me is that you say you've been unable to open a Spanish bank account - in a climate where UK citizens are doing their level best to rid themselves of Spanish banks, I would have thought any bank would be biting off your hand at the prospect of charging you upwards of €150 per year for their dreadful customer service.

Which Spanish banks have your tried?  Are you going into a branch, or trying to apply online?  Are you resident in Spain, or non-resident?  I can't believe that we won't be able to help you with this, if we can just get to the bottom of what the problem is.

Kind regards,

Kim

I do resent you implication andcrequest gor personal information.  My query was has other forum.members had problems opening spanish bank accounts.  I have a wise account and use it all the time. No direct debits with exception of internet.  Other utilities rejected the belguim iban number. I pay by card at atm of cash in the bank. I am a spanish resident and tax payer.  The spanish government owe me a substantial amount of money and will only refund it into a spanish bank with a spanishniban number.  I hope that satisfies your curiosity.   I have tried 4 banks one in the branch and 3 online.  I now have my lawyer on the case.  As soon as I get my money back from the government iwill close tge account.  For the record i never requested that forum members should open a spanish bank account, simply asked if anyone had tried and hit problems.

Hi Douglas,

My, clearly feeble, attempt at humour has completely missed the mark.  I sincerely apologise for the offence I have caused you.

I was not, in any way, attempting to pry, nor was I motivated by idle curiosity.  I had hoped, with a little more information, that I, or other members, would be able to help you identify the issue(s) and potentially find a resolution.

I hope you are able to sort this out without further delay.

Kind regards,

Kim

Got to agree with Kim, your first post confused me. We are only trying to help.

I am struggling to survive the life in Spain with this constant rejection of WISE Bank and European Iban Number.  The Spanish insist it must be Spanish Bank nothing else is acceptable.

Hi Douglas, we have just closed our Sabadell account and set up water electricity and avatel on direct debits to come out of wise card account I just have to do suma now. They have to accept the Ivan number etc, thought it was going to be as easy as it was! Good luck 👍

N26 ,if you set it up in Spain,Spanish mobile, have card posted to your Spanish address you will have no problems, although N26 is based in Germany ,( I have used it here in Spain for last 2 years no probs) for Spain ,if you register from Spain you get a Spanish IBAN and BIC ,did it for the wife ,on her mobile ,took 8 minutes and a week for the card. She now shops with reckless abandonment!

Because of money laundering Banks won't open up accounts for non residents . ( Having spoken to a Spanish lawyer, they can, but prefer not to.) I tried several banks and one with legal department, but all said the same thing. Computer say's No.Wish is your best option probably. Takes minutes to set up.
