And there it is again, the claim that an S1 is acceptable as proof of health care for the NLV.

For the n'th time of asking do you, or anyone, have first hand or otherwise verifiable evidence that this so at the TIE appointment?

I'm  not talking about what consulates may be doing but what happens on arrival in Spain because that's what counts in the end.

You take all the relevant S1 paperwork to the INSS department and get put into the Spanish Healthcare system.

Anglosaxons are tought to be strict and obey for the sake of a good living together. This has a lot of benefits (best example is the US). The Latins however have different philosophy. The have (their) laws but also enough laps to bypass almost everything. There is no YES or NO, instead can, might, could, perhaps, almost, maybe or completely the other way around. It takes some time to get used to this, but it also lets you beat the system.

Yes Brexit has destroyed many a persons dreams and plans of living outside of the UK. I believe that you will need to apply for a non lucrative visa. In order to apply you need €27k for the first person and €7k per person thereafter. Private medical insurance (not sure how that works if retir...

Can't complain the people of the UK voted for it. The private medical is to prove that you can support yourself instead of living off the state and if you can afford it then it's far better to have it
