Hi Maggie, We sold our home in West Yorkshire 2 weeks  ago after living there for 25 happy years. We've been back and forwards to the area we are living now for the last year just to make sure it was the right place for us to move too.  My husband has been very ill will cancer, twice an...

...d has gone through a lot of treatment and a bone marrow and stem cell transplant.  We were sitting at home in the UK in June and it was pouring down with rain we had the heating on and the fire and we just said lets sell up and go live in the sun..I was cabin crew for 25 years and have always worked, my husband hasn't worked for the last 8 years due to illness, but is in remission now. As like yourself I was a bit worried about the move and leaving our home and lots of friends, but we have now bought a place in Spain mortgage free and I must say loving the life here.  All I can say is you only get on chance at life, do what you feel is right, it is a bit scary, but we feel we've done the right thing.  Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Melanie

Hi Melanie,

Wow how brave are you to move when your husband has been so ill that took guts but it is good to hear he is in remission.

What area have you moved to and l am assuming you had bought your property before you moved over there?.

We are very very concerned about the exchange rate at the moment but as we have had so many ups and downs with the sale of our house l feel that after what we have been through we can't give up now.

Maggie

Hi Maggie

We have moved to Vista Bella Golf resort (husband is a mad golfer) which is in between alicante and Murcia.  We sold our house on the 10th August moved to a friends place on 11th august on the Urb stayed there for just over a week and signed for our house a week last friday.  I had my 21 year old cat driven over by a pet chauffeur he arrived Sunday and he's settled in nicely.  Have you decided what area you want to move too?, maybe rent for a while until you're completely  sure where you want to live and suss the area out.  We came about 5 times since Feb so experienced the winter (don't throw your woolies out you'll need them for Jan/Feb as it does get cold)!!!! I wish you all the very best for the future.

Kind regards

Mel

Hello

I am looking at moving to Denia in March 2020 with my partner. I can not find any information of the different areas within Denia.

We are looking at renting to start, can anyone recommend any nice areas or the different between them all.

Many Thanks

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

that's an oddly difficult question to answer actually! You have the main "town" area and then to the north and south you have large areas that stretch back from the beaches. To the south you have Las Rotas, probably nicer than some of the very long sprawl to the north with the drag that starts at Las Marinas and stretches all the way up to Deveses. By the time you're at Deveses you're a long way from Denia!

It really depends on what you're looking for in life. The town is noisier but you dont have the hassle of getting in and out, but town is more expensive usually etc. I'd need a little more info to help you more to be honest. In the main town there are little areas I'd avoid personally but I'd have to point to them on a map, they dont have area names.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

I would ideally like to rent in an area close to the beach but not too far out but don’t want to be bang in the centre. What is the area of Monte Pago like?

Monte Pego is an urbanisation 11 miles from Denia. It sits on the north side of the Segaria mountain, very pretty, and only 1km to nice beaches. A bit isolated for my money but I don't know what you're looking for. Monte Pego is close to Pego but not Denia.

Maybe have a look at La Pedrera, suburb of Denia, Els Poblets (village) nearby to Denia, La Sella (urb) nearby, La Xara (village) nearby. Are you using google maps or a property search engine like Homeaway, Holiday Lettings etc?

Why don’t you come and rent the type of holiday accommodation that can be rented week to week whilst you hire a car and look around. Some of these places are perfectly acceptable for short term purposes, we did exactly this ourselves.

If you then find somewhere you like you can make more long term arrangements. Buy a Michelin map and look around.

It’s much easier to choose when you’re here, we came with fixed ideas of one town, due in no small part to long-standing connections, but in fact now live somewhere 20 km away which we infinitely prefer. We found our house during a recce trip, staying in a very small holiday place temporarily, whilst we searched.

Sorry, we dont live in Denia but in a small village some 20 km inland. Google maps fine but a large scale Michelin enables ypu to lay it out flat and see the area as a whole

It's a nice quiet suburb just on the edge of Denia, quiet, a few bars and shops. Might be a nice base to explore from
