Hi Kim, can’t read the article as I’ve let my subscription to the Telegraph lapse! But if we’ll not need jabs etc in August, that’s marvellous. Due to go back for a wedding. Regards X

Be careful folks. There is nothing, zip, nada in what's said in the article that confirms anything at all.
He might as well have just said "we're hoping to change this"
So my advice is do not rely on this for planning purposes.

Thanks Mike.
What I find incredulous about the Olive Press article is that the UK's vaccine minister doesn't appear to know that the NHS is a residency-based health system and that those of us who are no longer resident in the UK have no right to use it, other than for urgent treatment when visiting for short stays.
So now I've also written to the MP for our rental property, a Labour MP who I always find more responsive than Gove, for his comment. Given that it's summer recess, I don't know how quickly I'll receive replies, but I'll update the thread when I do..
Perhaps I should also write to the vaccines minister, enclosing extracts from Gov.UK and the NHS websites, explaining why those of us living legally overseas can not be registered with a UK GP?! 🤨
Kind regards,
Kim

Hi all,
Looks like some positive news for those of us, resident in Spain and double-vaccinated here, to be able to travel to the UK without restrictions from 1st August:

Sadly still no news for those of us who don't have GP's back in the UK anymore. Those of us here in Spain have had the same vaccines as the UK, so it's nuts they won't recognise them.

If you talk to anyone living in the U.K. they are struggling to get appointments to see their GP. I have friends and family who tell me there is a two week wait to have a telephone conversation with a GP and you’ve got more chance of winning the lottery than having a face to face visit.
So are they really expecting a GP to search through a database of vaccines codes/batches just to rubber stamp a vaccine already approved by the EMA.
The GP’ s have far more important things they should be doing.
Plus as already stated most of us aren’t registered to a U.K. doctor anymore.
Surely this has got to be the media stirring thingup as usual.

Hi everyone,
This is off topic, however it could be related in some way to the original post.
Listening to Radio Scotland this morning, Simon Calder, respected Tourism Expert, the go to guy for all things travel related, highlighted that some 120000 million to 150000 million citizens in Europe rely on the forward thinking ID card for travel, as opposed to having a passport.
Since Brexit, the insular, narrow minded, short sighted, hypocrites (John Lennon 1940 - 1980) at Westminster will no longer recognise this form of ID.
This will have yet another adverse economic impact for the current UK tourism industry. Just thought I'd highlight this, could be the next talking point for the forum when this becomes more widely known. Makes you feel proud to be a UK citizen. That last part was made with my tongue firmly in my cheek. Just a thought.
Have a nice day everyone.

Hi Lorraine,
Yes, sorry, as I said to Steve, I didn't realise it was behind a paywall (I have a subscription), because it came up on my regular Newsfeed. However, having since seen the Olive Press article, I think it's just more nonsense - government ministers saying the first thing that comes into their head as a sop to the many thousands of UK citizen who reacted so badly to their original announcement and the media that has been demanding answers on our behalf.
Anyway, I have Nadhim Zahawi's email address and will be writing to him shortly!
Kind regards,
Kim

Well, since writing to Gove, Morgan and Zahawi, I've just seen this:
So no chance of a surprise visit to the UK for my Dad's 93rd birthday next month 😔
