Hi all,

The UK government had asked Spain to confirm what documentation is required to gain access to Spain and they have now updated gov.uk website:

SUMMARY
Still current at:  30 December 2020
Updated:  30 December 2020

Latest update:

Updated information on documents accepted as proof of residency for entry to Spain. (‘Summary’ and 'Entry requirements' pages)

"If you are resident in Spain, you should carry your residence document (the green paper EU residence certificate or the new TIE), as well as your valid passport when you travel. The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that only those residents who can prove their status as residents through the green paper EU residence certificate or the TIE card may enter Spain."

This answers the question about whether people can enter Spain with approved resolution documents, rather than a TIE - and the answer is No.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Mark,

I'm afraid that unless the Spanish authorities change it again, the requirements are clear that they'll only allow people entry if they have a green Residency certificate or a TIE.

Kind regards,

Kim

I have just driven from the uk to Jalon, the only person who asked if we had a covid test was the UK passport man and he only wanted to look at one. We were not stopped in either France or anywhere in Spain for passports, covid test  residency docs etc. So you could be better off driving over

Hi Mark,

Contact the Spanish Embassy in the UK, tell them what you've told me and ask if can they provide you with a letter that gives you the right to re-enter Spain. I know they have done this for others in your position.

In fairness to the Spanish, it's the airlines in the UK that seem to be the problem, but this latest Gov.UK update just makes it easier for them to deny boarding.

Good luck!

Kim

Forgetting of course this is a temporary measure which expires on 5th jan.

The Spanish govt banned entry to spain from the uk from 22-12-20 until 05-01-21 unless you were Spanish or a legal resident.

In my opinion a knee jerk reaction to the new strain of Covid currently in the uk.

It will be interesting to see in the coming months Spain’s attitude to English tourist...
