Thank you so much I know I sound stupid 😩
You are not stupid Kathy, if you don't know, you don't know, there are a multitude of reasons for not knowing what someone else knows. Happy New Year to you.

Hi Cathy
We have a sky box which we can use our U.K. card in as long as you do not connect to the internet, we also take our firestick but I am sure that you can’t get iPlayer, BBC, My5 or Channel 4 as you are using the internet and it flags up you are out of the country, we have got an app that allows ...

We brought our sky box with us for several years and nobody ever challenged us about using it in Spain. My husband loves his golf and rugby and the good old sky box suited very well.

An alternate to a VPN is SmartDNSproxy. A good web search will bring up their site.
(I am not on commission and I do not work for them!)
The difference is that this does not throttle your internet speed and, MORE importantly, the UK catch up apps do not block the smartdns approach.
In case you are not aware, the beeb for example are constantly checking the portals of the most common VPN providers and blocking them, so it is a constant game of cat and mouse.
Hope it helps

I am so frustrated. I have bought an android box and VPN and still can't get anything to work. Luckily I can take the box back and the VPN is on a months free trial. All I want is to be able to watch it and BBC occasionally. I don't want to pay for an expensive TV package as we don't watch enough TV. Normally we only watch you tube or netflix. But we do like rugby and the occasional series that itv or BBC provides. Any suggestions PLEASE. Thanks

No matter which device you use the process is pretty much exactly the same...(and a firestick run android anyway!)
install the vpn, set for uk
install the uktv apps you want (either from the googleplay store, or an "apk mirror" site)
set up accounts for those uktv apps
log in and off you go.
So it all depends where exactly you cannot get it to work? Are you able to install the VPN? Is it set for the UK? Have you tested it is working (whatismyipaddress.com), have you installed the uktv apps?
If you have a laptop, with hdmi output, then you can install the VPN app onto the laptop, testing the vpn is working by going to whatismyipaddress and hope it says in the uk, and use Chrome to go to the iplayer etc, and use the hdmi output on the laptop to feed the tv screen
Or forget about the internet, and go satellite...BBC ITV C4 Five all subscirption free via satellite

Yes!
As I mentioned, the BBC actively searches and bans well-known VPN server addresses and a host of others.
I got fed up, like you did, and pursued the smartdnsproxy route.
Failing that, The Sat and PC guy provided good advice. You may need and expert and it appears the solution is literally staring you in the face (when you read his profile!)
Hope it helps

Thank you I appreciate your help. When I go to Google play i get the message app not comparable with this device. If I go through the browser I get this site can't be reached. Satellite isn't an option as I have no room for a dish.
