Agree with the post. Sabadell were excellent when we opened our Spanish account.

La Caixa banks all speak English and have the best rates.
In Spain if you are non resident there may be annual charges and a charge for having a visa card. To do transfers there is a charge not like faster paymentry in UK.
I can ring my bank and get help over the phone and of course the Internet banking is in English also.

You are all very lucky if they speak to you in English in Spanish banks. They don't speak to me in Spanish in UK. In addition, they closed most branches of my bank, leaving me with internet banking (in English of course) as the only alternative...
this is not really e reply as such, but just a comment of what I experience in your reversed situation

Elsa, sorry to hear that you had this problem. However, you have to understand why there are several reasons for English speaking banks staff on the Mediterranean coast. The first is that there are so many ex pat British people, it is in the interest of the Banks to be able to communicate in English. Second, there are many other nationalities here - eg Scandanavia/ Germany - who do not speak Spanish well, but have English as their second language.
A third reason is that most Spanish people learn English as a second language in school, but sadly in the UK, Spanish is not taught automatically.
I'm sure if there was a high concentration of Spanish people along the south coast of England - for example - you would soon find Bank staff in those locations speaking Spanish in order to be able to service the demand from Spanish residents.

:) I understand. If you ever need any help to understand a letter, etc. in Spanish, just ask :)
