I have recently been issued a blue badge in the UK. Is it correct that I can’t use it in Spain now ?

I have owned a house in GA for over 20 years also a car. I used to bring my elderly mother in law over and use her blue badge no problem.

Is this another Brexit worm that’s come out of the woodwork? Is there a way round this ?

Afraid so, Brexit kicked that into touch.

That said few Spanish seem to take the blindest bit of notice of disabled parking places so I think even with technically non valid UK blue badge you'd be very unlucky to be pulled up for using it.

Nothing definite on low emission zones yet, except Barcelona dust to dawn.

Unfortunately, yes, another brexit loss. Officially UK Blue Badges are not valid anymore. I have one.  There is a notice that gets shared from time to time that people say you can put up with the badge and you will be ok, but it isn't anything official, so you can still get fined unfortunately.

Tebo53 - you must know that isn't possible for a non-resident.

This is another of those under negotiation things. I wonder if it will take as long as the driving licence exchange?

Loads of comments elsewhere saying people are still using UK blue badges and none have been pulled up for it. The UK government have issued a printout which they say you should display next to your UK blue badge.

http://www.disabledmotorists.eu/download/parking_cards/notice_spain.pdf

Whether that works or not I don't know but, again, people are saying they are using it and have not encountered any problems. Many EU countries have already stated they accept the UK blue badge, like Germany and others, but some, like France and Spain, say talks continue. Also comments where people, in the islands, have approached the local police stations and been told they could use the badge.

Just remember that, if there is a disabled space, look for a number plate on the pole as this will be allocated to a particular car only.
