Hi - I’m from Aberdeen and have an apartment in Puerto Marino, beside the Commercial Centre in Gran Alacant, I spent two years researching and visiting GA and other areas locally and always came back to GA, due to the facilities and the close proximity to the airport.  Fingers crossed that...

... we’ll all be able to visit later this year.

Thanks. My brother worked in Aberdeen for many years as an academic, then went to London, now in Cardiff. I really liked Aberdeen when we visited.

Glad you got something in Gran Alacan. Sorry you could not get there for so long.

I am still trying to get a refund from EasyJet because of an April cancellation, but hope to be out there soon. Alicante City is a terrific city, but I am trying to persuade my family that renting or buying in Gran Alacant would be a great idea.

Thank you. Now, however, have set sights on Torrevieja, because budget has gone downwards. Looking for a 1-bedroom flat and there don't seem to be any in Gran Alacant...

Hi again to all the helpful people who replied to my earlier posts.

We couldn't buy in the end, but very pleased to say we have now booked a rental apartment for 6 weeks in Puerto Marino starting 26 February. 😎

If anyone has any tips on things going on or whatever, or even wants to meet up for a beer/glass of wine, it would be great to hear from you!

Thanks. I was seeing closeness to the airport as a plus, but you're right that it could also be a minus.

How? 15 mins from airport wonderful. Or you could buy in guardamar and have a extra 30 mins drive. Not to bad for a day flight but you night not a great prospect tom t we liive in gran alacant to t

I live in Gran Alacant and don’t hear any planes so it’s not a problem and only 10-15 mins drive away. We love living here so would highly recommend it!

I don't know how far away you live from the nearest airport, Gran Alacant is wihtin a stone's throw from Alicante's quite busy airport. I wouldn't want to live there.

We live 15 minutes from the airport, we never hear any aircraft as they fly out to sea. I can only imagine the person suggesting its an issue doesn't live here. It is indeed very convenient as taxi transfers are very reasonable & you don't have to leave hours before your flight home

Gorgeous ! Aside from the noise, have you ever thought about the air you breathe?

At tens or hundreds of daily takeoffs, there are hundreds of tons of kerosene burned during takeoff. This polluted air is scattered for tens of miles around the airport daily.

Think twice before buying a property near the airport.

Emanoeladrian,

Whilst I take on board your comments, I can honestly say I have never smelt air fuel or been concerned about this type of pollution, I have neverhad any problems with noise from the airport.

I think you will always be able to find something wrong with every area.

Air quality from people smoking in busy tourist areas. Noise pollution from said areas.
Noise from motorway,

Noise/pollution from a retail complex, same from industrial areas.

Country areas have crops and what is sprayed on crops. Often off grid so have to burn wood/coal/gas. Having to get maintenance for rural areas and the real risk of crime when you don’t have a neighbourhood community to keep an eye out for each other.

I love our community of Monte Mar Bajo in Gran Alacant and we remain happy with our choice. Not for everyone and each to their own but just wanted to highlight that you have to look at what it is you want from a holiday home or a residential property.

You do not smell the polluted air due to the decreased concentration but the pollution and polluted air is there. Of course, many of the examples listed are all about air pollution, the decision to live in one place or another will only be yours. I wish you all the best.

Hi,

We recently purchased a Town House in GA and returned yesterday after our first stay there.

I must say that at no time during our 3 week stay did I here any aircraft noise.

Ten minutes from the airport is a huge bonus and makes it ideal for short stays as well as longer holidays.

We love it there!

Joanne and Jim
