Supermarkets open on Christmas Eve?

Hi Amie,

It doesn't help that Christmas Eve this year falls on a Sunday when the supermarkets are usually closed during the winter.  I've checked the websites for Aldi, Lidl, Consum and Mercadona, but they're currently listing their summer opening hours.  I think you've going to have to wait until September to know for sure.

The majority of supermarkets will work reduced hours on Christmas eve, from memory I think Mercadona close at 19.00. Not sure what time Al Campo will close. As Kimmy11 says probably best to wait until September to be sure. Only other alternative is ask a friendly neighbour. I have done shopping previously for a couple of our neighbours.

This is from Lidl in Quesada, but I should imagine the hours will be  approximately the same for all Lidl branches.

Just for information purposes for other forum members shopping in December. I was in Aldi  in San Fulgencio yesterday and had a look at their hours and from memory they were fairly similar , except they are open on the 6th and closed on the 8th. 

I’ll see if I can find Mercadona for you I know they’re open both Christmas Eve and NYE this year, but I can’t remember their closing time.

Most close around 2:30 or 3 pm on Christmas Eve. Carrefour, if you have one near you or maybe Elche, open as normal on Christmas Eve (also open 6th and 8th).
