Hi Dave

I have no direct experience as yet but I am doing a lot of research for my own home.

1) Most important, research!

2) Buy cheap - buy twice!

3) How long do you plan on living in your property? Less than 10-15 years and you will not get a return on your investment. People think 'Oh it will add value to my house sale" not in my experience it hasnt.

I appreciate it doesnt give you much to go on, there will likely be some people with direct experience who can respond.

Hope that helps.

Cheers for your reply,

At the moment it’s just a Exercise in types and cost to see if it’s going to be beneficial to have it installed, very few where we are have it so it probably means it’s very expensive

There are also some important legal aspects to be taken into consideration - too long to go into details here. The bottom line: for private households better forget it, except where electricity is not available from a public provider.

I did know until a few years ago if you had solar panels that you had to pay tax on them, unbelievable when you consider the amount of sun we get,I will look further into it but seems the consensus is that it’s a waste of money

Heho we live and learn

Cheers
