Sounds like we’d have plenty in common Ali so will let u know how we get on. (Looks to me like prices in Costa Blanca are rising again, when inlooked online end of last year, more house for your money.

Yes, I agree.  There seems to be a lot of panic talking on the forums about how houses are not selling/prices have dropped etc etc.  However, we have been looking since last October and have seen a lot of properties sell very quickly/prices going up.  Houses that were in our budget last year, are now over budget and also selling before we can even view.  The village that we have been looking at in the Orba Valley has 3 British couples moving there just this week - so there is definitely a lot of interest in buying in Spain.

Our budget seems to be more realistic in CQ, so hopeful we can find something really nice within the next few months.

Ali x

If you want Sunday Roast, fish & chips & nightly entertainment and live in a mini Britain try Queseda lovely houses, nice lively area then  Guardamar is not for you. However if you want to live in a town with a more Spanish feel, more relaxed and quite, has a beautiful beach, lovely restaurants then make Guardamar your home. It all depends on what your priority is good luck in your choice

Hi all,

my husband and I are hoping to purchase in Spain (when we receive an offer on our UK property which is currently on the market).

My parents own a property in Mar Menor Golf Resort which is lovely but too quiet an area for us we feel.

Guardamar has been recommended as a possible area for us and we’d like some input/suggestions/food for thought from anyone currently living in that area. Are there better areas within Guardamar to purchase, for example? What are the main pluses and minuses of Guardamar living?

We fly to Spain in 2 days time and will spend at least a day there sussing out areas, things to do, and the like. (We don’t wish to live more than 45 mins from Alicante airport).

We are a couple in our mid forties that like to socialise - imperative we make some nice friends! Am looking for arty crafty groups, walking clubs, coffee catchups and Spanish language classes so I may continue my studies. (I’ll often be on my own for spells).

*if sold on the area itself, may look to rent a small apartment Aug/Sept time before making a house purchase.

Thanks in advance 😊

We have an apartment in Guardamar which we use as our holiday home  we love Guardamar as it is a Spanish working town

If you are moving permanently and looking for lots of activities etc I too would recommend Quesada Benimar Benijofar and Rojales as previously mentioned

Lots going on here and a good expat community and very friendly

I too would recommend renting  but on the other hand prices are rising again and properties moving so keep an eye on the market

All of these areas are an easy drivefeom Alicante

Hi Lesley D. I have just bought in Guardamar. I’m coming back in July. Where is a good place to head for to meet some ex pats? I will also check out the Spanish lessons as when I come out on my own would like to do some. I am having lessons in the UK.

Thanks. Den C

Hi. Where does the walking group meet up! I won’t be able to join just yet as have just had ankle surgery, but in the future I would definitely be up for it. D
