Hi All,

We just signed for a house at Carrer Montserrat Caballé, the street should have fiber and the builder is installing duct to the house.

So I surfed around to find ISPs that offer Fiber in that area but it seems that it's only TeleCable in Santa Pola to choose from....

Does anyone knows if its normally so that the ISP owns the network and you can not get any other ISP?

Where I live most fibers are "open" and you can choose from 10-20 different ISPs. Of course has an effect on price level.

I mailed both Olé Communication and DVBLabs but they could only offer internet over wifi. I really would like fiber but TeleCable had 18MB at €26 a month while Olé had 100/100MB at €25 a month.

Any enlightening of the subject appreciated.

Thx for the answer Pete. It's just to accept then. I have read here and there that cost are added on top of the price for the line. That has to be for copper, right? Seen additions in the region of €15? I have assumed that the full bill for a fiber connection is in the region of €25-35 depending on ISP. Is that a fair assumption?

Do you know if fiber normally is syncron?

Ok, I'll guess I will have to stick to TeleCable and there 18MB Fiber. Thx for your insight.

Perhaps you right, 18 is a odd figure, there is fiber in the street so I will have to dig a bit more.

Its a real difference with fiber, have a 250/100 at home and it no comparison to the adsl of 24/1 I had before. Since we only will be in spain now and then I will have the fiber back home so I planned to set up a site2site VPN. Would allow to watch TV from home and have live camera from spain. Think ADSL would be to unstable, kind of difficult to "hard" restart the router from home..

aeromax offers the two options

1. Aerial fiber with speeds between 3 and 100 Mpbs with very reasonable prices

2. Optical Fiber with Vodafone, Orange and Movistar networks (300 Mbps for 39.90 euros per month)
