Exporting vehicles
Hi guys, is it possible to bring over a car from the uk and sell it in Spain? Obviously left hand drive.
Very much depends on what it is.
If it's a euro box for which a manufacturers Certificate of Conformity is obtainable then it's just a question of forking out for expenses which can mount up.
If on the other hand if it's something more esoteric, say a yank tank or a grey import, then it could very well prove impossible to register here which of course would mean that it could neither be driven nor sold.
A bit more detail might help in advising.

Yes it's possible. However UK registered cars are usually right hand drive.
You may be lucky and sell it to someone who is returning to the UK but don't expect to get the full value.
It's possible to put it onto Spanish plates but this can be expensive and probably only worthwhile if it's a car that you know and would like to keep. If it's left hand drive that would be a bonus, especially for car parks, toll roads or when overtaking.

Hi,
look on autoscout to get an idea of what it could sell for in Spain - https://www.autoscout24.com/
Contact a company that specialise in putting imported cars onto Spanish plates to get an idea of the costs involved:

There are companies in the UK that buy LHD drive cars also, you might get a better price from one of them.
I sold a LHD BMW in Germany about 4 years ago and got a significantly better price than offered in the UK, so it made the cost of putting it onto German plates worthwhile. Since then we have left the EU so import duty will have increased.
Rgds,
Aitch.
Before brexit many Eastern European’s would buy a RHD car to drive home in and would often pay upto 30% more for an equivalent LHD model. Not sure if this is still the case.Have you advertised it in the UK?My son lives in Jersey and the Portuguese in particular will pay way more for a LHD to take to Portugal than a RHD.
