We have spent several years living in La Marina and enjoyed it very much. We have moved to a smaller house at Doña Pepa ...not as big as nearby Quesada. And recommend that as well. Why not rent for a while to find out where you like best?

Almost certain to buy in La Marina

Hello, we asked almost exactly the same question over a year ago.  It sparked off quite a discussion and the whole thread can be found at the link above from the Forum.

We are now very happily settled in La Escuera, a smaller and diverse urbanisation just spitting distance from La Marina Urb.  I am very happy to let you know some of our experiences in getting here and for the most part it has all been good.

Best of luck!

Thank you, I have just read your thread from last year, there is certainly a diverse opinion on there. A lot of negativity from people who don't live there but what I found was the people who did live there were very protective of La Marina which to me shows a good community atmosphere. We do seem to be gravitating toward LM as it does seems a little off the beaten track with not as many tourists and quite central to just about everything we may need. We own a property on a golf course in murcia so have experience of Spanish life but are stuck in the uk at the moment. I'm glad you replied and have found your home. With any luck I will be there as soon as possi

You are quite right about the negativity and downright rude replies that the post generated. But there is always one ignoramus or a few in this case.

I'm on the edge of LM by La Escura and completely happy when I get the chance to go.

Kimmy is right about the various areas that make up the Urb and I have a mooch around to various places off the Urb as well. If you drive the world is your Oyster. It's all about what you make of it and how you integrate with other people. I've certainly not experienced any problems.

However I do agree with the advice of renting before buying  to get a feel for things. I bought originally after numerous visits because my parents lived there for about 15 years.

Good luck in any event.

Wow! I am amazed at the description some of the responders have given of La Marina Urb, and have to say that this is no where near my appraisal of the area.

Firstly, in the cul-de-sac in which we have our house, there are 1 x German families, 2 x Spanish families, 1 x Irish family, and a Welshman (me)!. And surrounding our house are the homes of 7 Spanish families

Secondly, the “value-for-money” in regard to property allows your money to go much further in property style and size. Our house is detached, has a pool, and is situated in an area that has a 12 minute walk to the Consum Square Centre, 10 minute walk to the Super Valu area, and a 15 minute walk to the Dialprix area (and near the “posh” and “sports centre” swimming pool) - all have restaurants, bars, banks and supermarkets of all nationalities

And the Urb is located in an area that is a close driving distance to the beautiful beaches and towns of Santa Pola, Guadamar, La Mata, etc - there are great golf courses nearby too - we have also discovered some lovely outlying villages.

The only thing that dismays me is the focus some folk (not living here) have on the “not so good” bits of the Urb. Why is that..... I wonder?

So, in summary - and we’ve been here for 4 years now - I thoroughly enjoy the area, and would be delighted to show you around.

Jeepers so from your post on the 25th to now you bought a property?

Firstly..... congratulations.

Are you in Spain or bought it remotely after a previous viewing  or via a video link/live walk around?

Sorry for the questions but I'm curious.

I bought remotely on a wing and a prayer but I loved the property so much
