Hi all, I take possession of my new property at the end of November . We have viewed it and have fallen in love with la Marina . I wonder if I could ask if anyone could recommend a satellite receiver box that I can bring from the uk ( preferably with recorder) we have the satellite but I’m new to this box free view thing so any help would be appreciated. Also can anyone recommend a pool service company. Many thanks
You need a freesat receiver. There a few on the market I believe and we have used a few Humax freesat boxes in our 15 years in Spain. Humax no longer make theboxes however and if you check the freesat webpage it recommends another brand you can buy ay Currys. We have one of the new recordable boxes. It works OK but occasionally does stop responding to the remote and we have to reboot. No problems with reception though and easy to set up. Make sure you have a big enough dish.

Sky boxes also work just fine, and it's not difficult to find them in charity shops. But recording with them can be tricky! When we came to Spain, we cancelled our contract with Sky - but when we did that, Sky sent a message to our card which stopped the box from recording anything. I've learned since that I should have removed the card before cancelling the subscription!

His name was Tore and he calls himself the Poolman

...since that I should have removed the card before cancelling the subscription!
I was told that it is not possible to record on a sky box without a subscription. We were enquiring about this before we bought our new freesat box. We have an old sky box in the terrace but cannot record on it. Should say we do not have a sky card in the box.
