Hi to Everyone

My name is Helen and I am new to this site.  My partner (Richard) and I are in the process of buying a property on Urb La Marina for our future retirement (we are in our early 50s). Hoping to rent it out at some point.  I would like to be able to speak the basics of Spanish so I can at ...

...least try and converse.  Does anyone know of any good online Spanish courses or reference books etc.

Thanks

Helen

I would contact Luke: 684359470. He is excellent. He comes to your home and teaches you how to communicate in a way that is enjoyable, practical and fun. Thoroughly recommendable, and he can also help with all your interpreting and translation.

Thank you for that information.  I am trying to learn a little online at moment but will bear him in mind .... having some fun while learning makes it a lot easier!

You're welcome, Helen. Take him shopping with you, he's brilliant at teaching you how to bargain in Spanish. Doesn't work in the supermarkets though :-)

There is somebody advertising spanish lessons on the Urb, they are a couple of doors up away from Barclays estate agents.

Thank you for that information.

As others have stated, Duolingo is great and the app is repetitive so the learning does actually begin to sink in !

If you want something a little more structured, I use an education website which is totally free of charge. The website is www.edx.org and a quick search brought these Spanish courses back - https://www.edx.org/course?search_query=spanish

It is FREE to sign up and FREE to go through the training. You can pay to have your qualifications certified if you need to, lots of information about it on the website.

Hope it helps and buena suerte!
