This afternoon we were approached while loading our car by a Spanish man asking for directions to Cartegena. He was waving an open map which we now realise was covering his slight of hand as he stole our wallet from the car door pocket.

Hi Lynne and Nick,

So sorry to hear this - unfortunately, it's that time of year when these chancers creep out of the woodwork.  Infuriating and frustrating, but so long as you're both safe.  I think it's really heartwarming that people who have these awful experiences go to the trouble of warning others - many thanks for flagging it up to us, very much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Kim

Hi LynneandNick,

I'm really sorry to hear of your unhappy experience and hope you can recover quickly from the shock and upset.

Thank you for relating the story here and hopefully it can help and prevent others from being put in that predicament.

These types occurrences appear too much!. Many are opportunist thefts, but I believe that the criminals are fully aware at which locations can unobserved (cctv etc) in certain car parks, supermarkets, airport etc. Therefore may very will return to their same distraction technique haunts. Again, I have suggested a bulletin board, that can list victims with details of the offender(s) desc, car, time & date, location, etc. Not a history, distressing as it is. But brief offence that may collaborate with other´s experiences & tie in together. Admin? is this feasible?

Sadly I suffered this outside Carrefour in Torrevieja and my partner at Alicante airport.   I know how easy it is to drop your guard.   The police at Alicante airport told us it was our fault for ‘letting them steal from us’.

I hope this experience doesn’t put you off our beautiful area.

Thanks for that & so sorry!.

I hope that the ADMIN may consider a bulletin board (as above).
