Like many of us, I changed to dual tariff pricing some while ago. However, Iberdrola have an offer for new contracts valid until the end of October with cheaper prices than I'm currently paying:

Low rate: €0.060709 per kW/h

High rate: €0.142726 per kW/h

Power charge: €42.043426 per kW/year, which works out at €0.115187 per kW/day

I printed out the PDF with the prices, plus a copy of my most recent bill, took them to the Iberdola shop in Almoradí, and asked if I could change to these prices.

They asked for my NIE number plus my passport or driving license, and five minutes later I had a new contract, with the new prices effective from tomorrow.

I could have done it online, but I preferred to ask, to make sure there weren't any hidden extras, like appliance insurance and something else they tried (unsuccessfully) to give me when I originally went on to the white meter.

If you wish to do the same, the link to the PDF is:

Hi Jim

Thanks for the info. This was similar to the contract we already have but cheaper. As we have an online account we were able to change the contract without visiting their office.

I may be getting confused here but I'm sure I saw something about 'choosing 8 hours for a lower rate' as part of the new contract. I have searched the details again and can't find any mention other than a different contract where you choose a specific 8 hours for your cheaper rate.

Do you recall anything about this '8 hours' thing. My wife seems to think I'm losing it or seeing things!!!!

Thanks

Colin

Hi Colin - nice to see you on here.

There's nothing on Plan Noche for choosing your hours. You'll be thinking about Plan Elige 8 Horas, or Choose-8-Hours Plan.

Is most of your electricity consumption centred around 8 hours a day? Save during the 8 hours of your choice.

And just tell your wife from me that you're not losing it; how dare she show any doubt about you!

Hi Colin we were trying for the hundredth time to log on to Iberdrola Virtual again failed this was last week but the tariff we found was what you mentioned 8hr and it did say you could choose two 4hr periods we thought was quite good.but we are not residents and visit 6 times a year to our 2 bed Appartment.we have reduced our Potencia from 5.75 to 3.45 our bills have dropped a lot to reasonable amount.ok cannot have Washing machine AC units and water heater on at same time. Money saved pays property insurance for the year.
