I've seen more or less the same article in the Guardian yesterday and today in the Daily Mail, usually opposite ends of political opinion, so you can assume the FT article to be correct. I did read that EU countries have the freedom not to implement the ban, at a country level, i.e. Spain could a...

...llow access if they wanted regardless of the other EU countries.

Aitch.

Pretty sure they would, they are dependent on tourism and foreign currency. Norwegians would never shut the English out, there is so much respect and connections since second world war  - and before that. I am not sure how much it means that they write the similar things, I think the starting point is pretty much the same. I am also frequently  disappointed in what I read in the paper if I have prior knowledge of it; a lot is wrong. It is not about giving facts anymore, it is about getting readers interested. So, the more sensational, the more people will read.

It’s the government’s inability to get a good deal that’s so frustrating. You are right though. I think once the dust settles then they will work something out and spring is just around the corner, thank goodness and they will be looking for every penny they can get.

We are but pawns in a very big game.

Take what you can get with a snide smile.

as the lyrics in the ‘Kris Kristofferson’ song states:

Get your kicks where you can’....

It’s all swings and roundabouts, just make sure you come out on top regardless of the political posturing by whatever side makes the most noise, it’s all quite irrelevant in the scheme of things and the only thing that matters is you’re own situation when it all pans out.

You can't say non (none) because you can't possibly know that but what you're calling unsettling I would also characterise as logical and predictable.

Curious where the idea that UK would "most likely be safer than the EU when vaccines are done" comes from, how or why would that be?

I posted this earlier but it seems to have gone to another poster in error. I have posted an image of my message 🎄

I hope there is an exemption for Brits with 2nd homes here in Spain. However, just not so sure that will be the case, as understandably their main priority is to get Corvid under control.

They knew the policy of a negative COVID test within 72 hours of entry would stop the majority of Brits visiting Spain, but they introduced that rule regardless. So until they announce anything exempting Brits, I will remain hopeful, rather than confident.
