The Spanish Consulate in England granted us a NLV in September. We just had to get an appointment at Benidorm police station to take our fingerprints to complete the process. We are unable to get an appointment. Has anyone managed to get one? If so how did you do it?  Is anyone in the same position as ourselves. Also, although our S1 has been pre-registered as part of our original application we are unable to get it fully registered until we get the TIE. This has meant that we are unable to access social services and other health services fully which has been a problem as my partner had an operation for a brain tumour in December and is now unable to walk. If anyone has any information or suggestions as to how we may resolve any of these problems we would really appreciate your support. Thank you.

Are you trying to access an appointment for a TIE at the foreigners office (in Alicante) for your TIE? The police station only issue residencia cards they do not issue TIE’s.

If you are struggling for an appointment employ a gestor or to do it on your behalf. They seem to have the magic touch with getting appointments. Once you’ve received your TIE as you’ve rightly said you can register your S1 with INSS, who will then appoint a GP at your nearest salud. Even registering your S1 can be problematical, yes you can do it online, but it takes time to be accepted. In your circumstances it would be more beneficial to visit the local INSS office to register. But getting an appointment to register is a nightmare, so your friendly gestor will come in useful again.

In the meantime if you need  urgent medical treatment, you may have to visit a private GP, cost will be around 40€ plus the cost of treatment. You probably realise that you will have to (initially) contribute to the cost of prescriptions even under Spanish Healthcare.

You could try using your EHIC for emergency  treatment.

You will need to go to Alicante to get your fingerprints taken as part of your application. Benidorm does not do it.
