Hi there,
Just to mention that you can keep your cesspit going, without emptying frequently, by being careful what goes down it! No wet wipes, or anything not biodegradable. Also, any out of date yoghurt thrown down the loo will be a tremendous help to replenish the natural bacteria you need to break down the contents in the cesspit.

I have a septic tank which drains off to a 'well' dug in the garden which in turn just drains away on it's own.
I used to add the teabags but have not bothered now for years. It seems to be working OK. We have been here since 2005 and have only emptied it once in that time and when that was done it was actually 90% water that they took away.
They told us it did not need to be emptied, so I'll be leaving it alone for now.
