We are looking at relocating from belgium to Spain. We are for a quiet place, with basic amenities. We have a car for getting around the wider areacwhen need be. The mirador development seems to offer the kind of housing for our needs. Can anyone inform me if there are currently houses for sale. We have experienced that many of the ads on sites like idealista are showing old ads, with properties which have long been sold. Also any Belgians or Brits living on the  mirador urbanization?

I lived in La Romana for 18 years, it has all the amenities for your needs, there are many options, on the outskirts there are many ‘partidas’, I lived in  partida alcana and needed a car to drive to the village, the mirador is made up of new houses and there is a mix of english Belgian and Dutch in the main, another area worth considering  in the village is around the polideportivo, very quiet but walking distance to everything, it depends on what transport you have

Thanks Christine, do yon know if any of the belgian, dutch and brits are  permanent residents? We have been in tiuch with an agent selling a house on the lirador estate and they look good value for money. How is the climate in La Romana? It seen to have seasons which are hotter and colder than nearer to the coast where housing is more expensive. Thanks again for your post it is most helpful.

Regards Simon

I now live on the coast and temps are a bit lower inland, more noticeable in pinoso (snow will settle there if it’s a bad winter, in La Romana you see it on the distant mountains) almost everyone is resident there, valenciano is the most spoken language, if you need an agent to contact I would recommend Dan, he was the most helpful and ‘un pushy’ and knows the area,  alicante sales and letting, his number is 711001507

Thanks gain Christine, we are a planning a visit to look at property and your info is very helpful. We have belgian friends who have been living near algorfa for 30 years and have also been looking in that area. La Romana appeals to us because of the quiet village context and of course the price of housing. Thanks once again for your insights!
