Hi - just posting a note to say hello we moved here 6 weeks ago from the uk and love spain- we are a family of five me my husband and our 3 children 8,7 and  4 our postcode is under Hondon however we are on the boarder of la romana - just wondered if anybody has similar aged children in either villages and could let us know any information regarding return dates for schools in both villages - we are not sure yet which school they will go as la romana is closer I also know that this school hours are 9-2pm - are there any expat children in Hondon and does anyone know the school day hours for there -

And lastly can any one let us know the dates for the fiestas in these two villages?

Appreciate any information

Kind regards

Nina

Hi Nina and welcome to La Romana!

(Despite my listing, this is the village I live in too)

I would highly recommend you read Jims Guides to all matters to do with the Spanish systems, really very helpful!

Can I firstly ask you, have you enrolled with the pardron?

La Romana Summer School has just finished, there is surprisingly no extension this year and I believe the schools go back in another 6 weeks!

The nursery (La Balseta) in La Romana is excellent, Vero is wonderful and really very lovely, my daughter adored her when she attended. (My daughter is now 5 and in 'big school' and loves it there too!)

The school hours can actually be 9-5 if you enrol your children for Menjador which is a stay and play type arrangement for a few Euros each day. I think, due to your location, you may even be able to claim an amount for bringing your children into the local school, you get yout travel subsidised I believe?!

As for the fiestas, basically, start this week. https://www.aytolaromana.es/ is the local town hall website (Ayuntamiento), albeit they are not the fastest at posting upcoming event information. My suggestion would be to go into La Romana and in most of the bars and the Ayto, there will be the official fiesta magazine.

I think it would probably be best if you PM me so we can exchange contact info and I am happy to communicate via WhatsApp

Hope it helps!
