Brexit has come and gone. Can people not find another subject. This stupid poll will only start the fighting again.
My sister (who lives in Belgium) and I went through the Brexit advantages in some detail. We managed to identify only 2 advantages - lorry drivers can drive for longer hours without a break and we don’t have to label food with all the details about fat and sugar content etc. not sure if these outweigh the many disadvantages though.

Hi Ned,
The Leave campaign focused on border control and immigration, our financial contributions as members of the EU, which would be redirected to the NHS, and taking back control of our country's law book. If anyone researched only these items before the referendum, they would have known that they were optimistic at best, but I doubt any of us could have foreseen the detail of the full, negative impacts of Brexit. For example, the loss of "passporting rights" for our Financial Services industry and how that has disadvantaged many UK citizens, whichever side of the debate you sit; the additional costs of doing business with our largest trading partner with, in the worst cases, a number of UK SMEs going out of business; the loss of EU immigrant workers from the NHS and others who picked our fruit and veg.
Your question has been asked many times before and used to result in those of us who voted Remain being called "Remoaners" by Brexiteers, along with their "We won, get over it" mantra. I have a recent recollection of one Brexiteer member, Bencr85, admitting that they made a mistake by voting to leave the EU; however, whilst they bravely and openly accepted their error, they're no more capable than me or you of giving an example of a Brexit benefit. In the meantime, all other Brexiteers appear to have gone silent.
Is there something in particular that has prompted your post? Perhaps sharing that with other members may be more helpful for you?
Kind regards,
Kim

Brexit ( as far as I know), has not "gone" (unless you have heard more). I am interested in the ongoing factual reports & other's opinions. V

Hi harvest,
I guess that deeming those things "benefits" depends on your point of view.
The UK government may seek to dumb down workers' rights for lorry drivers that travel exclusively within the UK, but any goods vehicle over 3.5 tonnes is still subject to EU laws when driven on the continent, including the use of tachographs. Similarly, any vehicles carrying more than 9 passengers out of the UK are also subject to EU laws.
The only benefit I can see for a reduction in food labelling is likely to be for producers, not consumers. Even the famous gastronomist and Brexiteer, Prue Leith, cancelled her membership of the Tory party over the UK government's attempt to reduce food standards in post-Brexit Trade Agreements. Thankfully, the House of Lords rejected the proposed 2020 Agriculture Bill, until the protections were reinstated and changes the Lords requested were agreed and enshrined in the final version passed into law.
Kind regards,
Kim

Brexit most assuredly has not "come and gone" if nothing else the NIP is nowhere near settled and due to incompetence UK have yet to implement import controls on goods arriving in the country.

Hi Kim, my post was bit tongue in cheek trying to highlight that there are no meaningful advantages of brexit. We did go through in some detail the things that really matter to most people stuff like taxes, duties on alcohol, petrol and tobacco, education, healthcare, border control, pensions and benefits and of course the EU has no input in these, every country decides their own so we were not sure what the UK was seeking to control through brexit.

Hi Harvest,
Well, that was the biggest lie of all, wasn't it? "Leaving the EU will enable us to take back control" - as you say, we always had control, irrespective of our EU membership. I do remember though, about 3 months ago, thinking I'd found a Brexit benefit - just wish I could remember what it was, LOL! ;o)
Kind regards,
Kim

You're thinking about the fact UK beer drinkers can now drink out of pint glasses with a crown symbol on the side. Many's the night I used to lie awake worrying myself sick about that, but thanks to Brexit, those EU fascists can no longer dictate how we decorate our beer glasses. Viva Boris Johnson! Viva Rees Smug!
