There are many many money transfer and exchange companies. I looked carefully at Transferwise and Currency Fair. I came to the conclusion that Currency Fair offer the simplest structure. They match sellers to buyers and thus cut out the banks altogether. The only explicit charge is £3 or €2.50 for each transfer. When you exchange the rate is clearly displayed. The web site is very easy to navigate. Pound transfers are virtually instantaneous from your bank to them.

Going slightly off topic I have problem with transferring money into both my Sabadell and CaixaBank accounts via Transferwise. I can use Transferwise to pay into accounts such as solicitor, estate agent etc but not into my own account; I get message, almost instantly, saying money has been returned to Transferwise. Has anyone else encountered this problem please?

Folks, just for safety reasons, it may not be a good idea giving details of how much you will be transferring of personal money to banks while posting pictures of yourself and telling people where you are coming to live in Spain, on an open forum.
I have the experience of my father ( a few years ago) being tied up, half strangled and robbed at home because he let slip he had a few quid, anyway, stay safe.

Hi
We moved here in 2012. We used a currency company called Foreign Currency Direct. Excellent service and can transfer large and small sums i.e. Monthly pension etc.
Hope this helps
Linda
I forgot to add they are based in the UK.
