Qatar cancelled my flights on 28th Perth to Doha to Alicante. In a way this has been best for me as Western Australia must be 1 of the safest places on the planet. But I'd still prefer to be moving to my little spot in Spain. Fingers crossed the wait wont be too long  x

As much as I do love Spain and our second home is there, I also love Perth and the surrounding areas...especially Freo,,,,that’s a tough choice,,good, luck. !

My main reason to get residencia before 31 Dec was that the UK will still honour S1 healthcare when you're pension age (which I'm not at the moment)....so we were expecting to pay for healthcare in Spain for xx years until we hit pension age but in the knowledge that at that point we could still ...

...get S1 and have it for free ongoing.  That's a UK decision.  I contacted the British Embassy in Spain to ask this and they basically said, there will be not extension on the date, it is set in UK law and that they hope we get into spain after lockdown, wishing us well.

The second reason was the amount of income spain will require and I'm hoping like you say that they might make this reasonable to encourage brits to keep coming and boost the economy?!!?  That's Spain's decision.

Thats interesting and helpful. I'm English born n bred but have lived in Oz for 20 yrs now so I'm not expecting help medically even though I'm 67 and receive some oap from uk. I looked into it briefly a while ago and understood that my 1st yr as a resident i would need a good private health insurance and that after the 1st yr i might be able to get some cover from uk. But I'll check properly whenever the time comes. I've had private health cover in Oz for 20yrs so I'm used to paying out monthly. If I'd been resident in uk I'd be under the same regs as you and it is a big consideration eh. Lets keep our fingers crossed. And by the sound of it Dec 31st is definitely going to be the cut off date. Holding my breath x

Freo area is definitely 1 of the best. My son lived there until he moved to Dubai and i live in Rockingham so pretty close. I'll miss the place but Spain will put me much closer to home in Melton Mowbray and my friends there but i also have made some great friends in Spain so i think I'll be making the right move ... once we get back to some sort of normality. Take care x

We were hoping to move to Spain permanently in June, but are now just waiting to see what happens.  So we have decided to just aim for Christmas, any earlier will be a bonus, but still hoping for maybe a quick visit before then, but without our 2 dogs.  Good luck with everyone that is also trying to move.   See you all there soon, when we can start our new lives xx

Aiming for Christmas is a good idea. I might just borrow that thought. We should all meet up once we eventually get there xxx
