Has anyone tried getting their household removals over to Spain since January.

I am really struggling with the paperwork

I expected to need a lot but what’s really throwing me is the Certificate of Deregistration from the Uk

Has anyone any clues ??

Many thanks to anyone who can help at all

Perhaps check out the UK.GOV Website, it might have some information on there, It might have something to do with HMRC ? or Deregistering your vehicle with DVLA ? I feel that once you have settled in Spain as a resident or even a citizen in the long term and start paying taxes if applicable, you are obliged to inform the UK Authorities of your move to another country ?  so you don't pay dual tax or other in both countries. Good luck and let us know if you find out anything, Stay safe and healthy my friend.

Thanks Peter I am in panic mode as the haulier is hoping to bring my stuff this week and as usual it’s a rain forest that Spain requires but this UK thing threw me

We have only been here since early December and I read that extra paperwork is required if you leave it more than 3 months before getting it here but I will check the Gov website

Thanks

Take into account the New Brexit customs rules, re your haulier? I am on the understanding that used goods are exempt from import/export taxes ? So perhaps all that may be needed is paperwork/certificate stating these good are being taken from your UK address to your new permanent home address in Spain, I would think your haulier could clarify ? I assume you have gained residency in Spain or have started the process ? and if so have paperwork to prove your intentions. If only for non resident activities you may be liable to taxes?

Yes we have started the residency process under the withdrawal terms I fetch our padron certificates on Tuesday but my residency application was held up because my S1 application was denied ( I was not even informed) due to someone ticking a box to say I had a Spanish pension (totally untrue) So much as the Spanish system comes in for a lot of criticism It’s the UK system that’s let me down

My first ‘hearing ‘ of residency application is Wednesday

This is a stressful week

Totally agree with you, I found residency stressful, even though I had professional help, I feel getting all the paperwork in order was the stressful part. I first applied in February/March of last year, but lockdown put a stop to that, when I applied again in June my appointment was cancelled again in July because of the new T.I.E system ! I finally got another appointment for August and gaining my residencia at the end of that month, so a long time. So I wish you all the best and hopefully all will work out for you in the end as it did for me.

Hi Mary

SNAP!

Brexit really has put a spanner in the works.

I'm currently in Spain and have been for 4 weeks and sleeping on an air bed and my sofa is a bean bag, so totally living the dream :)

Our removals have been put back week after week, with customs wanting paper work upon paper, and paper work that no longer exists.

So here is what I know and this better be it as removals are collecting from uk on Tuesday (fingers crossed)

Customs require your NIE number and padron (hence why i'm here with no furnisher - we had to fly into Spain to get it from the town hall - we are already Spanish residence so had NIE number) and a FULL inventory of your goods per box with an estimated value per box. We supplied all of these but still we were refused, we have now had to put our hand further in our pockets and pay VAT.

Money sure does talk as the UK then gave us the green light and now just waiting for the final figure from the Spanish customs! All very frustrating and stressful.

Hope you manage to your stuff over :)

MaryMary and VickyPixi - I really feel for you and we are yet to handle all this but it's coming.  Ours is well over 3 months since we got here (over 6mths).   So it would be great if you could keep this threat updated on your experience and what happened.

Best of luck to you both

Jill

Hi Vicki

We finally have our stuff!!

We moved over in December so we’re moving under the terms of withdrawal agreement . Our lorry was at the border for 4 days while they sorted things out. My padron came through on Day 2 and our driver had every bit of info I could give him including details of our uk house sale deeds of Spanish house NIE s letter from our Spanish solicitor anything to prove we were moving permanently They wanted the driver to unload so they could check everything but he fought his corner. Finally let go day 4 No import duty thank god!! Good luck !!

Jill

I do know you can apply for an extension to the 3 month time scale so don’t give up

It makes a big difference whether you got here pre Brexit or not
