Oh thank you so much, do you think I could get them on the internet. Someone suggested the system has to be drained, is this a fact do you know ?

Normally it’s not as bad as it sounds if you have a pressurized system it’s pretty simple unless you have 3/4 inch toppings on your rads don’t buy the cheap trvs

We ordered all our radiators and thermostats etc online with Screwfix and when we had problems with the delivery company being unwilling to drive out to the Campo their customer service was excellent.
Hubby says if it is a sealed/pressurized system it doesn't have to be drained down. He tried to explain it to me that if you put a straw in a glass of water and then hold your finger over the end when you take the straw out of the glass the water stays in the straw. It is only when you take your finger off that the water pours out, so as long as only one thermostat is being fitted at a time, it won't have to be drained down but its not a big job anyway. I hope I've got that right and it makes sense.

This sounds almost Fawlty Towers ish!

Anyway, I have central heating and use TRVs on the rads (as well as a thermostat in the lounge).

I recommend TRVs on the rads (Thermostatic Radiator Valves), but they are not widely available here.

Leroys do NOT stock traditional TRVs. They sell electronic ones at over 100 euros!! TRVs are bloody difficult to find here for some reason.

BUT If you know the Abbey pub, there is a ferreteria there. They CAN order TRVs for you. Give that a go. Good luck!

Thermostat valves, Leroy Merlin. Probably also available in Aki.

Interesting. When I went to Leroy a few weeks back, they said they didn't stock them. A new range maybe..............

I live alone so dont have anybody controlling!  I use mine manually so that when I need it I just

press start and then off to turn it off. Bingo!  However I do also have a Calor gas portable heater

and that heats up a room in no time so I use that quite a lot.  They cost around 100 Euros and

the refills are about 16.50.

Good Luck
