I have seen several questions on this forum about bank charges.
My wife and I bank with Sabadell. When we bought our Spanish home, our solicitor set up the account, and to be honest we have paid little attention to it.

So, we were in our bank this morning to make some arrangements, and now understand things better.
We had a basic "Sight" account. This provides debit cards, and the ability to set up direct debits/standing orders etc. This costs 35 Euros/quarter (but this will soon increase to 40 Euros/quarter).
Next up is an "Expansion" account. This enables credit cards. The cost is lower, at 15 Euros/quarter. To qualify for this account, you must transfer, consistently, a minimum of 700 Euros/month in. A savings account can be added at no extra cost.
There is the option of adding an "Investment" account. If you have one of these, the charges reduce to zero. To qualify, the Investment account must have 10K Euros in it.
Stop paying fees and change to Cajamar bank, "weferrent" account is online but does have a telephone helpline and if necessary you can do transactions in branch but then there is a small in branch fee. Apart from opening the account as a non resident, I have never had the need to visit a branch. This account is fee free to non residents too, must open in branch in non resident but residents can open online (online app doesn't recognise non res.Nie numbers). I joined after 12yrs of paying Sabadell fees March 2019 and already saved over 200€in fees. Free cards, atm use, direct debits and transfers all free. Google their website in english, app in english too. Wish I,d changed years ago.
