Hi there, Is it possible to exchange a USA Colorado driving license for a Spanish one?
Not according to Tráfico's website.

Thanks Jim for clarifying this as it is as we thought. We are exchanging our licenses at the beginning of March as we have about 5 years left before our licenses expire.
Central Mexico torrevieja. Total cost 40 e Inc fotos and test. Max to days. Waiting.

The rules haven't changed - it's just the terminology used.
Exchange is a swap without a medical to get a license valid up to the expiry date of a UK license.

Renewal needs a medical and you get a license valid for the full period to which you are entitled.
Thanks Jim .. it is confusing! We have had Spanish licences for some years now and 'renewed' them recently at .. http://clinicalasiesta.com/event/licenses/ … Perhaps 'replace' UK for EU(ES) would be better rather than 'exchange' .. who knows !!

All my contacts have said that a 'Medical' is required for all 'swops' .. 'exchanges' and 'renewals'
A DGT reference suggesting otherwise would help please

Have you read my guide to the subject? It's all explained there, with the relevant links.

I thought UK licences were issued for 10 years only?
Photocard licences yes, old paper ones which are still perfectly good to drive on are valid to age 70.

Many thanks … I will pass on the 'link' to those who questioned the 'Exchange/swop' procedure

That's for renewal, not exchange. I explained the difference earlier.
I suggest you re-read my guide to the topic, and do so slowly.
