Hi Amanda. Great info, maybe you should demand a share of the profit the lawyers make from your post 😏

Now wouldn't that be nice 😂

We have a zoom call with Pina on Monday who has been really helpful. I'll update as we go through the process.

This is a really informative thread and definitely one of the better ones on here, I think the next couple of years are going to be a bit messy but hopefully over time the UK and the EU will develop a good working relationship and we could maybe rebuild our ties and end up with something like a Norway or Switzerland type situation.

Well today was interesting and promising,! My Irish wife and I own property in both France and Spain, having looked into the Spanish long term visa. ( not NLV) I found the process extremely frustrating as I was told to apply at the Spanish embassy before departing then told register on arrival in Spain,

so I decided to look at  the French system and today I attended TLScontact  in London submitted an application for a long stay (1year) visa.I was photographed fingerprinted and told I will receive a visa in 15 days The interesting thing is this is a Schengen Family Reunification Visa and is valid throughout the Shengen area , so legally I can spend six months in France and six in Spain  as  this was always our intention  it’s happy days !

I'm also angry about a vote that took away my freedoms, I've had to retire 3 years earlier than planned to get in before the end of the transition period, it's cost me tens of thousands, I've joined the European movement in the hope that one day we'll rejoin, I accept it probably won't be in my lifetime but my kids might benefit. Funny how those going on about the vaccine rollout were quiet about the PPE fiasco, the death toll and the cronyism.

This is how I feel !

When we sell we will have over £200000 we intend to rent in Spain for a good while but as the 90 day rule is in place we can't rent for an extensive amount of time and my children won't get into any schools because of the time restriction !

We attempted to sell our house last year and move before the dead line but the pandemic ruined that attempt ! It now seems that the Spanish authorities want to purley attract very wealthy people.

What they should realise is that most of these people will be from an older generation and they will pass within a 20 year period ! Then there estate will go to the next of kin which may decide to pull there money from Spain.

It would have been far more civilised to give an extension to those families who intended to build a whole life in Spain.

The actions I see now have changed my opinion of the authorities in Spain but not the people ! I have had a family connection with Spain for over 45 years and have 7 family members there and they are mostly Spanish ! I havn't  completely given up as yet but will be looking at my options ! For those of you that wished us luck I thank you 😊

It's not the Spanish authorities who did this, a section of the UK public decided to give up our rights and opt for 3rd nation status.

Indeed the Spanish Govt. are only enacting what the Brexiteers voted i.e. restrictions of movement within the EU.
