I do find it quite odd that many 'older' ex-pats who live in Spain, are so keen for the UK to leave the EU - they haven't stopped to consider the fact that their entire future could have a spanner in the works thrown into it, as they have had the good fortune of freedom of movement and easy access to have their retirement in Spain & now? Depending on how the UK reciprocates, we could well be the subject of being treated in a 'worse manner' - more taxes, fewer rights, medical? This is really bad for those who are UK citizens who work within the EU as this will put up barriers to employment which were not there before. Work & employment are critical for future growth & expansion of any economy.

I see many younger people or those of a working generation, not seeing this in the same way that someone who has retired is - a large disconnect between young and old, which is a worrying state of affairs. Currently, the Brexit has harmed the UK economy, it has cost jobs & manufacturing.

Sorry but have to disagree more people employed in the U.K. now since 1973. agree manufacturing has reduced but most European Countries are the same except for the poorer EU nations who are now providing the cheap Labour to manufacture goods. As most things to day are Automated very little Skilled staff required its a world wide problem not the Fault of Brexit.eg Rover to Slovakia Renault to Romania.

Ray, there are more people in the UK than there were in 1973. If you read the government's own white paper it clearly lays out a few hundred individual companies and how they have been affected. This has already cost more jobs than many realise. The number if I recall is over a couple of hundred thousand job losses currently.

Car manufacturers have been affected in the UK. Why? Because of the potential increase of costs of parts within the chain of supply.

Manufacturing parts in different locations and the ability thereafter of shipping goods or cars back out tariff free which is now an unknown. IE if you can't predict your costs and margins in a large manufacturing entity, you move it to location where you can make  advanced strategic planning. Simply not acceptable for international businesses.

Manufacturing plants have been moving outside of the UK now as companies cannot predict unknown costs of supplying within the EU post Brexit, so in the interim have moved elsewhere within the EU, this is being repeated in other business sectors where inter border services and equipment is a fundamental part of the business.

The unemployment /employment figures are extremely misrepresented.  There has been an increase in zero hours contracts in the last 2 years, up 100,000 in that time.  This then misrepresents how many people are actually receiving a living wage and only benefits the employer.

There are more people who are on a minimum wage and as such register as employed but in reality have to claim in-work benefits, again this only benefits the employer.  What a disgusting state of affairs when nurses have to go to food banks and working people cannot afford to live because they are on zero hours contracts or minimum wage.

In the Great British tradition on even handnesses and non biased opinions is there also a link to a website with the opposing view ?

LeckyLes

The tactical voting web sites (there are 2/3 now!) generally provide a recommendation as to which party has the best chance of beating the Conservative. So in terms of being even handed, if you don't want to vote tactically just vote Conservatives, or indeed which ever party you wish 😎

Brexiteers are prepared to be attacked because they believe that Britain would be better off outside the domination of the European Empire.  Their veiws are not determined by the undisguised self interest of emigrants.  They love Europe but hate the EU.
