Hi everyone,

We have just purchased and got the keys to a property in playa flamenca.

Iberdrola have emailed us to say we are with them for electricity.

Unfortunately we do not speak Spanish at all yet.

Can we ask for the invoices and correspondence to be in English?

Is iberdrola good company?

They have already billed us and we have spent all of 3 days in the property and thought the bill was steep considering the property hasn’t been used yet.

Do you pay a fee to join?

We have had no correspondence with our solicitor informing us of who he has set up d/d with, for how long our contract is?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Niki

To add to what Kim's said:

You can change the website to English.

You can register for online billing on the website without visiting an Iberdrola shop.

Check your bill to see if it includes charges for various insurance schemes you don't want. If it does, then you do need to visit an Iberdrola shop to get these removed.

If the property has a smart meter, which will be indicated by you receiving monthly bills, then you need to know how to reset this, so read the following:

Thankyou everyone for ur advice.

We got our keys on the 11th Dec.

We came over from the 15th to the 18th Dec.

The bill we received is 35euro. For one month.

Only 6 of which was used electricity.

There was a charge for 19 Euro which we think maybe a contract for electric?

Really don’t understand the bill to be honest.

Is there a one off contract fee at the start or is this 19 standard every month before you use electric.

Seems it might be very high if we are over for a fortnights holiday.

Hi Nikin96. I was with Iberdrola when I purchased in 2017 but changed to Siesta Green Energy last year and my bills are much smaller. They have an office in La Zenia with English speaking staff who were really helpful in advising on the cheapest tariff to suit my needs and dealing with the switch from Iberdrola. I get my bill by email with an easy to understand breakdown of what I am paying for. Give them a call -they are friendly and helpful.

Best wishes. Jackie

Thankyou.

Will definitely look into it when we are over in April.

Very difficult understanding everything because we are so new to this but I’m sure it won’t be long with all of everyone’s advice on here that we will become pros like you all are.

Thanks again

Niki
