Should you choose to use Goldcar be very very careful, they have charged me 300 euros for so called damage and have given no evidence whatsoever, they have ignored all emails and messages. I have reported them to the  European car Rental Conciliation Service (ECRCS)

When I returned the car there was a long queue and no one available to check the car in, unfortunately I could not wait as a motorway accident had delayed my arrival and was in danger of missing my flight.

For any car hire, inspect the car upon pick up and take photos preferably with the gps on your phone switched on, better still take a video and make sure they sign off the car to agree dents scratches etc, do the same when you return the car. Refer to the Goldcar Facebook page, you will see the amount of complaints on there which may help your decision.

We highly recommend EdiRentaCar.com  No hidden extras, excellent service and honest company (you wont here that said about some of the other companies!).  the price you are quoted is exactly what you will pay - second driver included, car seats included, fuel included, all your insurance included etc.

 stevemc69, this is exactly my fears on car hire, I have read similar stories about various companies which makes me wonder if any of them can be trusted.

Davebev1, your experience is a positive one. I haven't heard of EdiRentaCar.com but will check them out.

The whole idea of car rental appears to be so hit & miss to me.

You have been given some good advice,I returned last night after hireing a car again for a week, I have been doing this for the last four years or so, and have been renting cars up to 10 times a year. With my own Excess cover, full to full and leave the deposit, there are some companies to avoid look at reviews.I have been very happy with OK rent a car and must have used them at least a dozen times, centauro are good, interent are good but they are now part of Gold Car, I have not had a problem with gold car but would not be my first choice. It is a loterry, but best advice check the car over take photos and read the T&CS before you book so there should not be any sudden suprises when you turn up to pick the car up.As apoint they do not cahrge your card with the deposits it is just flagged so you can not use it.I have just checked and my 1142 Euro deposit has been released already. Hope this helps, if unsure pay and take all the insurance and you have no worries at all and enjoy your break.

Hi  Like several people have said we also use DoyouSpain website and have never had any problem at all  We come over to our property several times a year and have also used Goldcars own site (the car we have from them at the moment is apparently our 28th! But that is over 5 years I hasten to add)   We have also used Firefly either through Doyouspain or Fireflys own site.  Generally Doyouspain site are slightly cheaper than the Hire Cars own site so do a double check.  In the 5 years we have had no problems with any hire car,including using Record about 3 times, which is also in the airport. 

For the last 10years I have used Easyoption Car Hire they meet you at the airport car parked in Public carpark in Airport . Never no problems English speaking great company

RecordGo every time without any problems or worries, but you MUST take their all inclusive COMFORT package. Book directly with them on their website. Covers full, full insurance with no deposit. They also throw in the express line privilege. Then you have no liability.

Before we bought a car in Spain, we were very lucky to have been recommended to use Lara Cars. Brilliant service, someone meets you at Arrivals , with a name board, takes you to your car, and gives you all the information you need. No hidden extras, all the cars we have hired with Lara Cars have been clean and well presented.
