Looking at moving to Spain - Page 3

Hi Julie, 

We have rented an Apt. for past 4 years in an Urb. on Calle Niagara and this year we purchased that Apt. with all amenities close by. We have 2 English shops around the corner together with a Vet, Dentist, and Community Centre and other services. We have a commercial centre opposite which includes numerous excellent restaurants and bars. Within 5 minutes walk we have access to all the major supermarkets also a well equipped Jym and numerous beaches within 7 minutes walk. Our neighbours are multinational, friendly and helpful and we absolutely love this area.

Name the lawyers.

Name of lawyers please !

They are called MLS (my lawyer in Spain) I saw him do a presentation at the 'place in the sun exhibition.' London. At no point then or when I engaged him did he point out that as he is based in Malaga he wouldn't be the best lawyer to engage. His colleague Rosa finally completed the work. It took 6 months!! At one point she shouted down the phone at me ' do you want this house or don't you'. I'd already paid 10,000 euro (10 per cent) non refundable deposit at that point!

Buying the house was extremely stressful.especially alone. However l've found this site so very supportive. I was very close to giving up and writing off the money to experience. This site is always good but some people have really gone that extra mile and it's much appreciated.

I was always intending to inform the program about that lawyer but haven't got round to it. It was very misleading.

Thanks for your reply. Your location sounds ideal. Is it down by Jenny's supermarket? I'm told Calle Niagara is long and goes round in a loop. I'm up hill from where Jenny's is. About a 15 / 20 minutes walk. I really saw the house and loved it and bought on impulse, although I've loved Spain for many years. I'm enjoying being here and soaking up the sun at present.

Yes , I am down beside Playa Flamenca Beach centre. Where we are is quite central and I think the shop is called Penny's . I had forgotten how long Calle Niagara is.  Enjoy the sunshine 

You really should inform the programme makers.

I was at Place in the Sun Birmingham, and spoke with the lawyers.

They made it sound sooooo simple...?

Find a property, give us power of attorney,. And the next time you see us is when your collecting the keys !!!!!

NOT quite that easy is it. ?

You Must use a recommended Lawyer

Use this forum, you will get lots of advice, good and bad.

And hopefully things will work out .

We bought our place a couple of years ago. Its our holiday home at the moment

We did a lot of research for several months before our trip to view properties. We arranged for Sunworld to show us around properties around Orihuela Costa. 

We discounted all the properties we saw online due to the location or surrounding areas. Within 3 days we knew we wanted to be based at Punta Prima (not top of our list when researching online !) and had bought a property before the end of the week. We couldnt be happier with our decision.

Im sure when you visit the different areas you will instinctively know where you want to be based.

It was a lot more straightforward than we thought
