Hi all

Does living in a gated community reduce the risk of squatt

Worth pointing out that there are "gated communities" and there are actual "gated communities".

As an example, the urbanisation/block next to us has gates, but they are only up to waist height and they do not have locks in the gates - so anyone can walk through should they wish.

Our urbanisation used to be like that until maybe 5 years ago when the exact same style of gates I refer to above were all replaced with ones with locks and also up to about head height. That followed a number of burglaries (of which our property was one). Furthermore, any external walls which used to of a similar waist height had additional balustrades added together with a banister on the top so as to take all of them to around shoulder/head height. Also, all the gates are self locking so as you leave (unless you deliberately hold/stop the gate just as it closes) they lock you out.

The one off cost to do so wasn't cheap but I'm very pleased that as a community we voted to do it as it does make you feel safer all round.

I live in altea hills. 24/7 security and cameras every were. But u still get burglars. So I presume they could also squat.

No were is 100% safe now. Buy steel shutters. They would have to make a racket to get in and HOPEFULLY a neighbour would here the noise.

Good luck.
