First  I  would  check if  Community  allows Pellet  or Log burner  installed,  as they will require  a large Stainless steel  Flue erected on  Exterior  of property,  or if  you have room or don't  mind an interior  Black flue installed.

I  prefer  a Pellet  burner  as not as much  cleaning  on a  Pellet  burner  and you can use a Domestic  hoover  to  Clean  out a Pellet  burner

You yourself have a pellet burner ? how do you find the cost of electricity when running it , yes we do have a chimney so I guess  we don’t need a flue on display could I ask where and how much this cost you or was it already ins

We replaced the useless existing log burner which was in situ with another one. We put up with it for three years, then changed it for a pellet burner. The log burner was very efficient, an Austrian brand, but neither of us were prepared any longer to keep stacking three cu mt of logs tipped onto the drive, nor the concomitant mess of cleaning etc.

The pellet burner works extremely well, and is much less hassle. No idea re the cost of electricity to run it, but our bills do not seem to have altered noticeably, our entire house is electric anyway The pellets increased in price dramatically mainly due to the problems with Russia etc, butthis year have dropped again, being currently around six fifty a bag, which lasts us usually for three or four evenings. This is still dearer than when we installed the appliance, when they were four something, but still worth it to us.

In December there was a thread about wood berning stoves which you might want to look at as there were several responses that had info on log and pellet burners.

Put wood burning stove into the search box at the top of the page and scroll through the results.

We just replaced our pellet burner with a new air conditioning unit to heat the living room.

Can't imagine running costs being much different, especially when you take into account the additional effort for the weekly clean of the burner and popping out to buy an extra bag of pellets.

And the air con is actually quieter than the burner. Of course the burner did have an optical effect, but then it takes up floor space that the air con doesn't.

Pellet burner was 2.5K when originally installed, aircon was 600.

Hi,

last winter we stopped using our mains gas central heating as much a possible because the price of gas had quadrupled, we used the air con units on heat setting instead. They worked fine, with only a small increase to our electricty costs. The units are very energy efficient so you may be presently surprised by the running costs.

Rgds,
