We replaced the useless existing log burner which was in situ with another one. We put up with it for three years, then changed it for a pellet burner. The log burner was very efficient, an Austrian brand, but neither of us were prepared any longer to keep stacking three cu mt of logs tipped onto the drive, nor the concomitant mess of cleaning etc.
The pellet burner works extremely well, and is much less hassle. No idea re the cost of electricity to run it, but our bills do not seem to have altered noticeably, our entire house is electric anyway The pellets increased in price dramatically mainly due to the problems with Russia etc, butthis year have dropped again, being currently around six fifty a bag, which lasts us usually for three or four evenings. This is still dearer than when we installed the appliance, when they were four something, but still worth it to us.
