First thing to say, find out this forum very interesting. A lots of people very helpful, those information very useful.

We plan move to Spain, hopefully will happen in 2 years time. We use to love Costa Del Sol as we travel there many time. Unfortunately we can't afford to buy a 3beds,2bathrooms town house with our Limited life time saving budget £120000!!

After I done my homework for some reasons I like Playa Flamenca. Is it the right area to choose? We sure come to this area have a look next year. We wish rent a place for 1-2 months to ensure received most information we needs before we view/purchase the properties with estate agents!

We both are very low key person, like meeting with locals and English friends. Moving to Spain the main reason for the healthy live style, enjoying sunshine (7 months at least, I guess?) Could you tell me which area suit us of the following requirements:-

Local Restaurants, open all year around

Friendly residence(I'm Chinese from Hong Kong, my hubby is English) meet friendly people are very important to us

Strong community spirit

I do like complex with share pool property but for long term residence use rather than holiday home

Public Transportation Easy access to other towns

Forgive my English Grammar.

Thanks all

Steffi from Derby

Hi Steffi,

There are many places in the Costa Blanca South area that will meet the criteria you mentioned, with the possible exception of local public transport. When you come over, areas you could look at in addition to Playa Flamenca, are Cabo Roig, La Zenia and Villamartin, amongst many others that I am sure people will recommend.

If you could rent for two months it would give you more of a chance to find the area that suits you best.

We spent many holidays in The Costa Del Sol, and looked at moving there, but ended up buying a holiday home in The Costa Blanca. We are certainly glad that we chose here, as there are many advantages. If you have ever driven in Fuengirola, you will find the driving much more relaxed here for one!

I wish you luck with finding your dream home and hope things go to plan for you.

We got ripped of for quite a bit of monies which is quite common here ... if I was you look at the website a place in the sun and Keyero .... be careful which estate agent you choose because lots of them have the same properties...!you would be best to get a good jester pronounced hestor which we got when it was a bit to late but holly did do some work for us ... a hestor is someone who knows there way around the Spanish system without charging the Earth but do ask for a quote first for anything... we settled in Playa Flamenca and have never regretted it and you can always get something off if you offer as it’s a buyers market ... it’s worth knowing 20% extra on top of the buying price for taxes etc ...!also it takes 7 or 8 weeks for the house to be settled so a long term rental would be best or if you prefer go home and come back after you have chosen .... we lived in a hotel for 5 weeks big mistake wish I new now what I no now lol there is are very helpful people on this forum Nicola ( French martini ) she lets out property amongst other things and Jim they are absolutely fantastic

Hope this helps

And welcome to Spain it’s an awesome 😎 life eventually lol

Hi Steffi,

I don't think that there are any package holidays in this area. It s best to book your flights and accommodation separately. It is usually very cheap to rent out of the summer season. With regard to looking for properties to buy, it is best to search the Internet as much as possible so that you have a good idea of what your money will buy. Home España are excellent estate agents who have shops in Villamartin, Playa Flamenca and La Zenia, so know the area well. If you contact them they will send you regular emails detailing properties that meet your requirements. It costs nothing to look and they will pick you up and take you for viewings, no obligations.

Playa Flamenca is low key but with all the facilities you would need. Public transport in the Orihuela Costa is unfortunately poor, but it's something you get used to. Taxis are inexpensive. Do plenty of research before you come because a few days is not really enough to make a judgement. Having said that, we booked 3 weeks holiday to look for a house, and the agents showed us the perfect home just 3 days after arriving. We had never been here before. Saw the house on 8th September and moved in on 12th November, absolutely no problems or regrets. Just get a good abogados (solicitor) and they will do everything for you. Happy hunting!

Thanks both

We thinking rent a apartment for 2 months stay, to see we will fall in love the area or not, also to meet some friendly people who can give us some advice.

Overall find a good solicitor much important for the whole process. Am I right?

Thanks for your time to read.

Received advice from you much appreciate.
