Hello everyone as I'm reading these responses it seems I'm in the same boat, I have all the same questions and dilemas but I don't and won't be put off as I feel that I need to do this for myself and to be honest I think I will make more friends and get out and about more. I retire in June so I just need to take a look at what is going to be the best areas. The health care seems to be the main question and also bills and banking, TV and sky, Netflix etc, then there's the stuff in UK to sort, but that said everyone on here is positive and encouraging which is great, cos if everyone else has done it then so can I it's just making the move, every journey begins with the first step, think you are all fab

Hi Anita
Go for it is my advice. Even on my own and with health problems I haven't regretted buying a house here. It must be even better to move here with a partner as I do find myself alone a lot so I probably just need to be more gregarious.
Take advice from people on the site about lawyer and make sure the area you choose is right for you. I just loved the house and was rather impulsive. Playa Flamenca is lovely providing a 15/20 minutes is ok for you.
Best of luck.

Thank you so much for the advice Rosemary. The house was meant to be a treat for me after years of being a single parent.
Ironically the same day I saw the house which I'm now liviing in. I saw a flat in La Mata which I was considering as it was so close to the shops and 30,000 euro cheaper than this one. I do a lot with the u3a and a member of the committe came to see the house before I bought it. I just wanted an unbiased opinion. She loved it as much as I do. However I was on a weeks holiday and followed my dream without doing any of the research. I still love the house but as I have health problems after a stressful life, need local shops or a bus route which I don't have.
I was able to buy here and keep the house in Bromley. I was intending to rent this house out but that hasn't worked out. I do have a lodger in Bromley. to enable me to pay bills et. on this place. My 31 year old daughter who still lives at home and shows no signs of leaving at any point isn't really enamoured by that.
Thanks again for your detailed advice.
Julie

Hola Anita,
Please don’t worry as worry never helped anyone. We are led to believe that you are still within the EU until the last day of the year
That will give you ample time. Come over as planned and do your search. Find a rental from September which should be cheaper, apply for your NIE and Residency. Hopefully, once your application is in before the deadline, you should get into the system.
I have been thinking about you and I have searched for somewhere suitable for you to live in and still have room for your sons to visit. Not everyone needs to live on the coast. Properties inland seem to be much more affordable and offer more for your buck! Thankfully, you speak a little Spanish which you could learn to improve upon. The best part of living in Spain is the blue skies and it doesn’t matter where you decide to buy and it is more important that you should find a decent sized home, close to an airport with a good bus connection as you don’t drive.
Remember, keep a record of everything that is important to you....your dreams, search other areas or perhaps people on this forum could suggest somewhere. Watching a recent episode of A place in the sun, they showed some lovely properties in Mojacar which were far cheaper than Torrevieja. ( fly into Almeria. A lovely city) Spend your money wisely and get a home that will make you happy.
Good luck.

Hi rosemary thank you so much for your response I'm hoping I can be selling my house in time in not sure what the process is for applying for residencia but I'm concerned that I might not make the deadline and if after that I can still apply I sent an email to casas manuel and they did send me some property ideas in my price range but no idea where they are I think one was not far from playa flamenca I will have a look again where the others are and let you know
Kind regards
Anita
