We de-registered our car on 15/3/24 & have all the necessary documentation. I've been trying to obtain a partial car tax refund from the SUMA office but in order to send this documentation electronically to them they need a digital I.D which I haven't got (we live in the UK) & I have asked them twice how to obtain this digital I.D but all they do is send the same link over & over again. I also asked if we could leave it until next month when we come to Spain & visit the office & would we need an appointment but they've not replied to this question. Does anyone know how to obtain this digital I.D. Thanks in advance.

Please don't hold me to this but it is possible that you don't have to do anything. You will not have received your bill or paid your car tax for 2024 yet. It may be that you are only charged from January to the date you registered the car as off the road.

Presumably you deregister the car and not sold the car on. If you sold it, then whoever owned the car in January is responsible for that year. This would be the same if you bought a replacement. The previous owner would have been responsible if it was after January.

Thank you for your help.  I may just wait and see on this then.  The car was scrapped and de-registered so we have all the appropriate documentation.  We are going to Spain in May so I expect that the bill will probably be waiting in the post box for us as we always pay it in May and if they only charge us from January 1st until March 15th then all well and good but if not, then we can go to the SUMA office and speak to them.  I am presuming that we won't need an appointment, I did ask SUMA when I contacted them if an appointment was necessary but they did not reply!!
