Hi we've moved over permanently so need to know Where's the best place to buy certain meats as like to cook. Can't get tender chicken,  low fat mince or nice steak.  Have tried mercadona n lidl.so far. Thanks

Consum mince is the best we've found at 5% fat which is very low. Used to be Mercadona but they seem to have changed suppliers.

We find chicken is nice everywhere except Lidl. Don't know why but our local one seems to be poor for that but they do have nice steaks.

Consum is also great for pork chops as they do it with the rind on which we like. We do have several butchers run by Brits around here which are very good but we find a bit expensive although they all seem to be like that nowadays.

Thanks. I haven't tried Consum yet. I did get low fat mince before in Mercadona. All they have now is 12% up. Thanks

Although I don't live in your area, but after over 20yrs here, ( although I do use supermarkets), I buy meat from one of the many local carniceria(s). Eg: minced meat  is prepared in front of you ( not packaged as "burger-meat"  with additives). The pork & chicken, ( tender ),fresh without water injection, chlorine & emulsifiers. I have found in Spain, the quality is 1st class. Some supermarkets do a reasonable job.  V

Consum is an excellent supermarket all round. It has both butcher and fishmonger counters.

I don't know about the mince as I don't use it. The beef and pork from the counter are really good.

They bake bread etc. on the premises, and the staff are very helpful and friendly, which isn't something I can say about Mercadona.

Lidl is good but I can never do a full shop there.

Enjoy your life here.

Cheers, J
