I made no reference to NLV nor shall I. That is not nor now is the purpose of the original post and subsequent responses.

The fact remains that Spain is still accepting residency applications.

Pre or post Brexit is an irrelevance, applications are still being accepted.

Residency applications are being accepted only if you've been granted a visa from the Spanish embassy in the country that you reside.

When/if you are granted a visa you then have a month to apply for residency.

So If we’re all wrong and you’re right.

Enlighten us

How do you start the ball rolling if you want to become a resident?

You obviously don't know or Don't want to know the terms of applying for Spanish residency.

What I have explained to you is route to residency.

To gain a visa you need to have an income of €27,500 per annum and full healthcare paid for a full year.

Explain to us your ideas!!

Please bear in mind that the OP is a UK resident, British passport owner and these rules relate to the OPs status. This thread relates to the OPs status.

If the OP was from an EU country the procedure would be different

This really isn't that difficult.

A UK resident can still apply for Spanish residency under the Brexit agreement.

I shall leave you all to google and throw aspersions around to yourselves.

I’m sorry but we have explained to you the procedures set out by both the Spanish an U.K. government.

We do not need to google it

We have asked  you to explain how your procedure is so different that it can be started in Spain and not the U.K.

He appears to be determined to start / continue a row over this line in one of the earlier replies which he's lifted out of context:

"Unfortunately you have now left it too late to apply for residency in Spain."

The reply goes on to clarify that it refers to people wanting to begin the Residencia application process *from Spain*.

However, he's decided to ignore that & is clinging onto his wilful misinterpretation of the original message for some strange reason. possibly because he doesn't want to admit he misunderstood it when he first read it.

Either that or he's just a bit of a knob who likes arguing with strangers on the internet.

Hi teecee,

Residency applications under pre-Brexit rules are still available for people who can prove they were living permanently in Spain before 31 December 2020.

However, in the context of the OP, this is highly unlikely to be relevant - Steve and Jan received the keys for their property on 16 November 2020, but only stayed in Spain for 1 week, before returning to the UK.  They do not have 3 months of bank transactions that prove they were living permanently in Spain.  (They haven't offered whether they had PHI or an S1 for healthcare, or had signed on to the Padron pre-Brexit).

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Stan,

Earlier posts from "Steve and Jan" suggested they believed Spain needed the patronage of Brits wanting residency, to the extent that they didn't need to apply pre-Brexit as there was "a backlog" of applications.  If that was the advice of their lawyer, they need a new lawyer!

Kind regards,

Kim
