WHAT IS ALL THIS??

SPAT-CHAT?

Let's have something useful.

This is what I said in the first place. It just ends in slanging matches.

You had 5 years to sort out residency, you should have got a grown up to deal with it for you 🤷‍♀️

(Big sigh...again.)

OK, let's try again...

(Read the following slowly, in the hope it goes in this time.)

Permanent residency is *only* an option (& here's the important bit so take your time)...if you intend to live in Spain permanently, full-time. Hence the "Permanent" bit.

Still with me so far?

Good.

OK...Before Brexit, we could have split our time between the UK & Spain in a way which was perfectly legal, with me popping back to the UK periodically to undertake consultancy work. No ninety day rule, you see.

Now, however...we'd need a big chunk of our savings in our Spanish account, private health cover & would be subject to the 90 day rule.

So...& again, listen carefully..."sorting out permanent residency at some point during the last 5 years" doesn't really come into it because (a) it was never relevant & (b) we're talking about WHAT HAPPENS FROM HERE ON IN, NOT IN THE PAST.

Right...get someone with half a brain to translate that for you & get back to me.

Or not...I don't really care.

Not really.

I just get slightly frustrated when people read what I've written then appear to reply to completely different points, clearly not having understood what are, invariably, some fairly basic conceptual ideas.

But then tell me *I'm* the stupid one, as they depart on a seemingly random journey towards some other completely unrelated subject matter.

It's like talking to a pint of milk or a lamp.

Pointless.

I'll possibly "lighten up" when all the dickheads living in Spain but who still voted Leave, thus denying me the same option, all form an orderly queue & offer me a heart-felt apology for their rank stupidity.

Until that point, I'm going to carry on slagging them off.

Its not their fault you don't have enough money to get residency. Why don't you sell your house in the UK if your that desperate 🤷‍♀️

I can afford residency but don't want it. I am just miffed at how the enjoyment of my Spanish property has been impacted by Brexit.

90/180 was always there but was not enforced and even if you wanted to comply you could still leave Spain at 90 days for a couple of days (Moroccan w/e perhaps?) to reset the 90 day clock so that you did not have to seek residency and could therefore spend more than 90/180 there as long as you did not get to 183/365 and be required to seek tax residency.

Don't get me started on the increased tax I am having to pay to rent my property. Many do this to offset the costs of owning a holiday home but it is now far less helpful. I knew what was coming and bought anyway but many who owned prior to Brexit and relied on this income have been hit hard, some being forced to sell often at a significant loss.

I do feel for all of those on pensions and lower incomes whose dreams to retire to the sun have been dashed, in part by the selfishness of some leave voters who were able to obtain residency with much smaller incomes.

I’m an avid remainer, and would normally tend to agree with your point of view. However, you seem to be the most antagonistic and aggressive poster; in the middle of all the slanging matches.

Think you need to read back on any discussion I've had on here regarding Brexit. You remainers have called me every name under the sun. If you read the posts if I insult anyone it is only in self defence. And save yourself time by starting the abuse to me again, I've moved on.
